The not so Golden Globes

They are the second most watched Hollywood awards show, after the Oscars. But the Golden Globes have a checkered past, and the judges are questionable, reports Jay Stone

Still, members' behaviour is legendary in Hollywood. The New York Times reports that last year, Brendan Fraser got a written apology from the association after long-time member Philip Berk grabbed Fraser's buttocks after a ceremony at which the actor announced the group's annual charitable donation.

Even fans of Scrubs often have trouble finding the sitcom, which was pre-empted again this week for The Apprentice. Producer Bill Lawrence says he understands NBC's actions but finds it frustrating. "It stinks. But my only responsibility is this show."

He's preparing his show for some big events this season: guest spots by Michael J. Fox and
Brendan Fraser, and a wedding for Carla and Turk. And he's hoping that next year, with Friends and Frasier gone, NBC will have more time for Scrubs

Sandra Bullock and
Brendan Fraser are among a batch of big name actors that have signed on to star in the film "Crash."

Matt Dillon, Ryan Phillippe, Thandle Newton, Larenz, Nona Gaye and rapper Ludacris will also appear in the movie, described as being in the style of "Pulp Fiction"  and "Traffic."

Actor Don Cheadle has already on board for the film, which is being directed by London, Ontario native Paul Haggis ("Due South").

The feature follows a multiethnic cast through the streets of Los Angeles as they go in and out of one another's lives.

Brendan Fraser Sells Personal Snapshots

The Mummy star Brendan Fraser is selling off a range of photographs he's taken over the years to benefit a Los Angeles theatre.

The actor has unveiled a range of haunting black-and-white snapshots which he took while in Vietnam making The Quiet American as well as other pictures from his various film sets and travels.

The range of photographs are on display at the 24th Street Theater until November 8th, with sales to benefit the venue.

Fraser says, "It's like a place I used to go to when I was growing up in Seattle.  They have outreach neighborhood programs between four and seven o'clock, and it's a place where kids can come and poke their heads in and become exposed to theatre and acting.  It's something where they can hang out that's really a community, as opposed to being on the streets. I think that's very special, so anything I can do to help that along, I will."

"ANOTHER 'SUPERMAN' BITES THE DUST
We've officially arrived at the proverbial crunch time for Warner Bros. and Superman. With production scheduled to start in May in order to hit their intended Summer 2004 release, you'd think that the producers would've selected their new Man of Steel by now.

Well, the good news is that they're one step closer to that casting.  It's being reported in various corners of cyberspace that Paul Walker has taken himself out of contention, apparently balking at the seven year commitment to play Clark Kent. That leaves only two public candidates for the role,
Brendan Fraser and Matthew Bomer.

Fraser would be seen as the favorite with his "box office power" garnered from such hits as Dudley Do-Right and George Of The Jungle.  Although, soap star Bomer is reported to be director Brett Ratnor's top choice since he favors an unknown in the part.

Tick...Tick...Tick..."

"So now the director is auditioning Paul Walker,
Brendan Fraser, and soap actor Matthew Bomer, the latter of whom screen-tested on March 7.  While sources close to the production speculate that Ratner will choose between the high-priced Fraser and the all-but-unknown Bomer within weeks, that decision may not be enough to calm the controversy."
