Romulus Nimbus

You and I,
We shared no origin,
Held no common roots.
Actually, my grandfather tried to shoot yours,
But yours was quicker
and he saved your freedom.

Did he save you for me,
for us,
for the city?

We shared no homestead
didn't even share a language.
But one night, we shared teh air
and together , the country we ruled

Both of us
Friends we left,
(in order) to possess the night
to drink the grapes and press the olives beneath our feet
I didn't see you and you didn't see me

Neither one of us invited him,
but still he came
It was night so the sun had gone
but still it rained

No, he was not invited
but both you and i, he knew
he was our shared father
actually he was our birth mother
