To the Goddess
Blood was offered to taste.
To the Goddess
Tears were given to waste.
Men died to seek the answers
To the questions I feared to offer(ask)
Men cried in the silence returned
From our Omniscient Unknown
Smoke and Spice fill the air
As incense burns to voice their prayers
That the indifferent goddess might become aware
Of their lives, their loves, and their petty cares.
Candle flames danced to songs of praise
To the distant deity who ignored their ways.
Men waited. Men fasted for days and days
To capture the moment that never stays.
And now such a flame burns within my heart...
...To many it has been given,
that they might find inspiration
through your visage.
For the nights, I spent alone in front of the flame
I thank you.
For I alone, among the earthbound,
have been found blessed to have,
for a time,
Held in these arms, my Goddess,
found blessed to have felt the warmth of the altar fires
in your embrace, my Goddess,
Fires of brilliance cleanse the filth from my being...
A laugh becomes a love.
Can I even dare ask the penance
If one were to kiss the lips
that command him.
Can i even imagine the fires themselves
flooding my veins from a moment
of shared passion.
Then I saw darkly, but now i see face to face
