April 2006 - Newsupdate
News update quick update on the latest here.
Israel As you all no doubt will have heard there was a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv this week . Once again a security guard gave up his life to stop the bomber from actually getting into the cafe. Apart from that there was also some 90 people that were caught planning suicide bombings during the first 3 months of the year. We all knew that Passover would be a particularly dangerous time which is why I texted earlier in the week to pray for safetly during this time.
Iran is also creating quite a concern. Israel is not going to be able to sit and do nothing about the developement of nuclear capability there if the rest of the world does not take strong action. Specific threats have been made and Israel cannot ignore them, according to some of her leaders, so things are a little tense at the moment.
Prayer - Please continue to pray for this situation and for safety in the Land and vigilance on the part of the security forces. For the situation with Iran. The leaders here need wisdom, for the situation both in the Land and out.
Personal well.....had a love Passover (Seder) meal at B and Beths (see pictures) Shared it with an ex flatmate of mine Carina, her mother and brother and another family from my congregation. We prayed that many would come to recognise their Messiah through the Seder Meal and particularly those we have come to know and love. Yes I had the Matza for the 8 days (unleavened bread.....well biscuit). It was quite funny to see as soon as Passover ended, people all standing having their Falafal in Pita and hamburgers, just enjoying bread again. Once Passover ends, after sunset on the 8th day, there is a Moroccan Jewish celebration (adopted by all Sephardi Jews) called Mimona. Traditional Moroccan food, music and dance. There was a celebration at the Great Synagogue here in Jerusalem, and a friend of mine Anna, who is an Australian asked me if I would go with her. We had a wonderful time. Anna is someone I am just getting to know and am enjoying very much. She is of Italian decent but her last name is of Spanish origin and was a name given to Jews that had converted during the time of the Spanish Inquisition ..... Morano. It means pig in Spanish. She has been doing a lot of research into the history of the Inquision and Sephardic,in particular Spanish, Jewry.
Have had a couple of calls from my Israeli friend Daphna who is in Czech Rep learning to be a vet. We spoke for long time. She is lonley and homesick, but is doing well in her studies. She is coming home in May for 3 months before the second year starts. I am looking forward to seeing her and spending some time with her. Bless her, she has given us her refridgerator to use as she will not be needing it for the next few years. So fridge problem solved.........
just in time as the weather has in the last few day start to heat up a lot.
I have been asked to consider showing nursing staff in Hadassah Hospital how to use the equipment that is in use in the UK and Australia that enables you to move patients in the bed safely for both them and yourself. In Australia and UK there is a no lift policy in the hospitals, and something as simple as a slide sheet ( you nurses out there will know what I am talking about) is very effective. There are no slide sheets here and it would be a first. I am going to be talking to the Director of Nursing at Bikor Holim to see if that would be something they would be interested in also. There are many nurses here that have to leave the job because of back injuries. First of all though.....I need to get a hold of some slide sheets and similar products. They have patient lifters, but not these and they have no training in place, or annual accreditation lessons and assessment as they do in UK and Australia. This could lead to going into the hospitals and nursing homes here to take this. We will have to see if it is something the Lord opens up. I seems like an incredible opportunity really if I can get a hold of what I need and perhaps even get to UK to do a 3 day training course for people who go on to lead these courses for this. I have been asked to be Practice Manager at the JSPCA also. I have yet to talk with them, but they seem to think that it is me they want to do it. There are many new staff members there now and I am getting to know them slowly. This would certainly give me a chance for closer contact with them which would be nice. Went in today (friday) to find that a dog that had been leashed over night had bitten through it, and rampaged through the clinic. Unmentionables everywhere, bitten through telephone cord and computer cable, bags of biscuits opened ,etc etc. Oh dear.
Prayer
Please pray that I will walk through the right doors. The doors He opens ... no man can close and those He closes no man can open.
My visa comes up in beginning of June and so I need to do something before then towards either arranging exit or changing status. Please pray.
Please Pray for Daphna in Czech Rep. Pray she would even meet a believer there who would befriend her and would draw her to the Lord. She knows where I stand and it would be great to have that backed up by a friendship there that will "make her jealous" for the Lord.
Thank the Lord that Mum has been so much better. It was so difficult to leave but the Lord is faithful.

B, placing the middle broken peice of unleavened bread (Matza bread) in a cloth ready to hide it away and bring it out later when it is broken up and shared with the 3rd cup of wine. These two items, the hidden piece brought out and the 3rd cup are what the Lord shared with his disciple spoke of himself.  Below that is the sandwich of sweet date and nut mix (symbolising the bricks they were forced to make in Egypt) and horseradish to bring tears to the eyes to remember to tears shed in slavery. We also had the gifilta fish, fruit nuts as well as the main meal of chicken beef and vegetables . You see the Seder plate with the symbols of passover. Was a fun time and a great time to remember the exodus and how Messiah is shown in it all as we also read the Hagadah which is the story of the captivity and exodus. I want to keep this to one page, so will leave it for now. Take care, Shalom and keep in touch ....Jenny.
