Apart
from these two sandstones, there are many other sites which
have yet to be restored and explored.
At
the end of my trip I was fully aware that this region showcases
all that is mighty about the ancient Khmer culture and provides
ample evidence of the unimaginable power of this glorious civilisation.
Travel tips
Getting
There: From Bangkok, take Highway No1 (Phahonyothin road) to
Highway No 2 (Mittraphap road) to Nakhon Ratchasima. From there,
turn right onto Highway No 24 on the Chok Chai-Det Udom road
and take another right to Buri Ram. The total distance is 410km.
Another route takes you from Nakhon Ratchasima on Highway No
226 past Amphoe Chakkarat, Huai Thalaeng and Lam Plai Mat.
By
bus: You can get the bus to the Northeast at new Mor Chit bus
terminal in Bangkok. Transport Co (Tel.02-936-1972) has daily
air-conditioned and normal bus services from Bangkok to Nakhon
Ratchasima and to Buri Ram.
