John's India Trip Blog
I'm on a month long business trip to India. Stay up to date with what's going on.
Entry for April 16, 2007
Good morning everyone.  Haven't written since Friday.  Let's see Saturday I went to the beach and swam in the ocean.  The ocean, or sea, is not what you think of when you go to Mexico, Florida, etc.  You would think the water would be beautiful and blue.  WRONG.  It's a brownish green color.  And smells delightful.  I went swimming in the ocean last Sunday then hung my shorts to dry and figured I'd wear them again a few days later.  Bad idea.  They stunk so bad.  I couldn't figure out what the smell was. When you lay out on the beach they have a life guard on duty.  He is really there to make sure you are comfortable instead of actually saving lives.  He got me a towel and moved my chair into the sun for me while a little child was getting eaten by a sea lion.  At least I was comfortable.  We later went to the city.  We stopped at this other mall called the City Center.  It was actually really nice.  I picked up an Indian Maxim.  Pretty funny.  They had a food court with KFC, Pizza Hut, and Arabian Hut.  I didn't try any of those.  We then went to the Park Sheraton.  It's an extremely nice hotel on the corner of poverty and gross.  We ate dinner.  I had canneloni and matt had lasagna.  We had an appetizer of onion rings.  I'm livin' it up on trying new things.  Here's the thing.  I was all gung ho about trying anything and everything.  I got a little sick, now I can't look at anything.  Luckily I only have 3 more weeks.    That was a joke.  I hope to come back weighing about 85lbs.  Then we went clubin' in the hotel.  There was an "Irish Pub" that was the furthest thing from an Irish Pub.  There wasn't even anything Irish about it.  There wasn't even any green in the club.  Supposively this is the place to be on Saturday nights.  We got there about 8pm and were 2 of the 10 people in the club.  By 11pm there was about 600 people.  It was so packed you couldn't walk.  Nothing better than being in a club in India with 600 people listening to 80's songs converted to techno watching people dance with dance moves I don't know where they got.  I know each and everyone of you are jealous.  Also you would think 600 people there's bound to be a good looking girl in the whole place.  WRONG again.  They were all sporting muffin tops.  But hey, if your into chubby lovin', you'd be in heaven at club Dublin.  Sunday we went to the pool then went to this reptile park.  I've never seen so many crocodiles in my life.  They just threw about 150 crocs into a pit and let them fight each other.  We paid 100 rupees to watch this guy feed them.  It was nasty.  I'm not sure what kind of meat he threw, but it was mostly bones and you could hear the crocodiles crunch the bones.  Nasty.  My boss was taking a picture of a lizard and a bird flew over and pooped all over him.  All over his hands, his camera.  It was hilarious.  We saw snakes and turtles too.  I came back to my room and went to sleep and of course woke up in the middle of the night thinking there were snakes in my bed.  Freaked me out.  Alright enough of this.  Hope the Softball team wins and hope the hockey team is doing alright without me.  Talk to you later.

John,

Hi there! This is Gina from work. Kim had sent my your link to check it out and so I could see how you were doing. I will have to say that I enjoyed reading your blog. It was pretty funny. The Saturday night description really got to me. I know that people in the office think that I am crazy, but I confirmed it today laughing hysterically while reading your blog. I hope that you don't go to the reptile place again! GROSS! Oh, you better make sure to shower after swimming...aweee! I hope that your trips keeps going well! :) Here on the homefront, are busy with construction. We have new glass fronts in the conference room and all the offices. Friday the construcion crew might be breaking through the wall to come into our office by Bob Perrey's old desk. Bob Dunnell moved out already so they can relocate our break room to where his cube is. The CVC room is all cleaned out and they might be coming threw that wall today or tomorrow. Fun fun! Other than that nothing too exciting going on besides work! Good Luck to you!!
