It is currently 11:23am EST and I've awakened to the shocking news of almost unbelievable acts of terrorism. In a span of only 18 minutes both of the World Trade Center towers were struck by two separate planes. This horrific act was followed an hour later, at about 10am, by the intentional crashing of a plane into the Pentagon in Washington DC. United Airlines is now reporting that flight 175 Boston to LA is now missing and is possibly heading for Washington DC. All flights in the US are cancelled. This is indeed a disaster of the greatest magnitude. It can only be assumed that the towers were targeted due to their great symol of our strength, our commerce, and our prosperity. All thoughts and prayers are focused on the friends and families those lost in this monstrous terrorist act. There are many questions surrounding these events, and even now more stories emerge, such as a crash (somehow related to these other acts) that happened moments ago just north of Somerset county here in PA. And it is still unclear to me how this most basic form of terrorism (hijacking) could have gone unnoticed for so long. And perhaps most disturbing to me, was seeing footage of citizens from the West Bank of Jerusalem celebrating, throwing their arms in the air with their fingers in a V shape for victory, happy to hear that the evil Americans have been hurt. Not since the attack on Pearl Harbor has the United States fallen prey to such an act of villainy.
