The purpose of this website is to act as a digital brick-and-mortar store for my Uncle's business, Uncle Al's Music Emporium.
First and foremost in the design process, I created a template showing how the website would be layed out and in what style.
I chose the hierarchal structure because it makes sense for the simplicity of the store and the services and products it offers.
My design scheme is that of simplicity and minimalism. There is no useless information or fluff, only the necessary points for a consumer to know what the business is and has to offer. I chose the color scheme of light grey to crimson to emphasize the proffesional attitude of the business while keeping the passion of music. The typography is easy to read and will not be misread.
The site navigation is very simple since the home page acts as a hub leading to all the subpages, with said subpages all linking back to the home page. This way, if a user gets lost somehow, they are never more than a click away from home.
Given more time and research, I could make a much more visually creative website. Given the resources and limited knowledge I have at the moment, I could not be as creative as I would like to be. It would be obssesively detailed, with all of the little tricks I could find thrown in. For instance, I would like to add a rotating gallery of images of instruments to the home page instead of two static images to give it more motion and excitement.
