ISSLAC Standard Activities

Standard 1:  The candidate has demonstrated the capability to promote the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

·        I have used test data to help drive instruction to my students.  I took all the CRCT scores for my students and divided the scores into the areas of Language Arts, Math and Reading.  Then I used their individual score reports to break down each score into the different concepts tested such as geometry, problem sovling, computation, etc.  I used this test data to determine areas of strengths and weaknesses of my students to make sure that I instruct them on their needs.  

·        As a member of the leadership team I attend leadership meetings regularly to discuss programs, activities, and plans the school has.

·        My school is a Learning Focused School and I use Learning Focused School strategies in my class which helps by having continuity in the school.

Standard II: The candidate has demonstrated the capability to promote the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.

·        I am the 2nd/3rd grade representative for the Math Leadership Learning Community (MLLC).  I attend all MLLC meetings and help support teachers during the implementation of the Investigations math program.

·        I use differentiated instruction in my classroom to challenge gifted students as well as meet the needs of ESOL students and EIP students.  I use computer based programs to help students who struggle in reading as well as use menus to challenge students in math.

·        I have attended differentiated instruction training in order to learn strategies to use in my classroom to meet the needs of all the students in my classroom.

 

Standard III:  The candidate has demonstrated the capability to promote the success of all students by ensuring management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.

 

·        I have attended all leadership team meetings since January 2007.

·        I have coordinated a book drive for the 2nd grade.  All 2nd grade classes are collecting books to donate to a local charity. 

 

Standard IV:  A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.

 

·        I attended a school board meeting in June and July.  

·        I assisted the Media Specialist in creating activities for Family literacy night as well as helping to organize and work the event.

 

Standard V:  A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.

·        I am a member of the tier 3 committee which assists with developing strategies to help students who are significantly below level.

·        I have held parent teacher conferences with disgruntled parents.

Standard VI:  A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by understanding, responding to, and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context.

·        Interviewed parents and faculty members of my school to learn about their ideas to improve my school.
