Behavior Intervention Assignment

The inappropriate behavior that was displayed was the child not attempting to complete his work and constantly asking the teacher for help, even though he was capable of doing it himself.  The behavior that would be desired to replace this behavior is for him to work on his own as much as possible and only ask for help when it is necessary.  Some of the instructional strategies that will be used to replace the inappropriate behavior will be partnering the student with another student and positive reinforcement when the student attempts the work without asking for help.  Since it seems that the student is doing this for attention from the teacher, the teacher will make an extra effort to talk to this child in the morning when he comes to school in order to give him the attention that he is seeking, but without taking the teacher’s attention away from the rest of the class during instructional time.  In order to allow the student to work with a partner easier his seat will be moved next to a student who would be a good role model for Daniel.  This behavior plan will only be used in the regular classroom setting since the inappropriate behavior was only displayed during math and reading time and the child receives no special services.  The classroom teacher will be responsible for implementation.
