Shared Governance Model

I.                    Plan

A.     Establish a leadership team (principal, assistant principal, team leaders and PTO representatives). This team will organize the planning of the improvement plan to allow teachers and staff members to have ownership in the plan.

B.     Data will be collected to show the staff there is a problem that needs to be fixed. 

C.     The staff will break into Local Quality Teams to create a prioritized list of areas for improvement.  This list will be brought to the leadership team.  An outside consultant will be hired to assist in the improvement plan.

II.                 Do

A.     Teachers use the prioritized list of areas for improvement to being to implement programs and activities to improve the areas of weakness.

B.     Training for teachers will be provided as the school implements new programs and strategies.

C.     The leadership team will meet to discuss concerns in the improvement plan.  If needed, changes may occur in the plan.

 

III.               Check

A.     Assessment of progress

                                                               i.      A pre-test will be given prior to the implementation of the improvement plan.  Teachers will assess students on progress made through a monthly test.  This data will be kept to analyze progress.  The results of this data will be distributed school wide so teachers can see progress that has been made.

                                                             ii.      Teachers will complete a survey to evaluate the improvement plan and provide suggestions for further improvement

IV.              Act

A.     The leadership team meets and discusses continuation of the improvement plan.  The effectiveness of the plan will be discussed and decisions about changes will be made. 

B.     If the goal of the improvement plan has not been met, then it will be necessary to return to the “Do” phase of the plan and try new strategies and programs to achieve the goal.

C.     Since this is a continuous cycle, if the goal has been met the then the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle will start over.
