| This is a 1946 Canadian built Chevrolet. It was manufactured in Oshawa, Ontario. From the VIN I learned it has 160in. wb., is rated as a 2 ton and has a 235 engine. It has not been restored but it surely has been looked after over the years. I understand it spent many years at a tourist camp near Kenora, Ontario on Lake of the Woods. It was used as a handyman vehicle. I have contacted the General Motors Vintage Dept. and they are to send me information regarding the date of manufacture and the selling dealer, etc.. There are signs that the engine has been worked on and it runs very smooth and quiet. It starts instantly from a cold start (full choke). The cab and chassis are in very good condition and it has a twin cylinder dump box. It also came with a set of stake racks that are nicely pin striped. At the moment I have it at a professional body shop for removal of minor dents and a new paint job. I am anxious to post new pictures when it is returned. I had intended to take it to my lake cottage but I think I have fallen into the syndrome of making it too good to be a work truck anymore. George. |

| Nov. 13, 2002. I found out that the truck was off the production line on Oct. 10, 1946 and was shipped west on Oct. 18. When the painter stripped it down he found the name of a farm on the door. I think they were the original owners. The farm still exists and I plan on contacting them to find more history on the vehicle. They may like to see how it looks today! I am happy with how it looks now as it is an unrestored vehicle except for the paint. |
