Subject: The Dance
Hello everyone! I've kinda been lurking, so I decided it was time for me
to introduce myself....with this poem I wrote a while back.
This poem is about my favorite part in the movie Labyrinth - the ballroom
scene!
Tell me what you think, comments, reviews, questions, any thoughts
welcome and hoped for :-)
Disclaimer: I'm not making dough; I swear, that's true!
I'm don't own the show, so please, don't sue!!
(sorry...got carried away with rhyming )
**The Dance**
*By Mairzy*
Floating fragile crystal dreams
Inviting, shining pearly, misty aired
Everything she wants, he takes to extremes
In this world of a fantasy shared
Innocence, soft and sweet
Entwined silvery in her hair
Flowing around her, head to feet
Unmasked, as she walks on air
Here the masked dancers move and sway
She's engulfed in the palpable confusion
Music dashes all worries away
And she's lost inside his illusion
Thrust into this world within
Masked wickedness hidden, unknown
This purity thrown to sin
Her loveliness of such rarely shown.
Look among the masks, you will see
The hidden hollowness and despair
Tainted lives of depravity
Heartless eyes taunt and stare
A lone figure seems to stand out
Soft eyes alone that know and care
His face unmasked; certainty in doubt
But blink, and he's no longer there.
All's forgotten to her in this place
All she knows now is need
Teased and mocked for her bare face
In their every laugh and deed
Her search intense, his flight sure to beguile
He's dancing just beyond look and glance
But something in his elusive smile
Tells he will give her the chance.
Yet, while he eludes her chase,
His eyes never do leave her
He silently views her face
Her uncertainty's growing deeper
Somehow, forever she's onward
Deeper, deeper into the throng
Something is urging her forward
Something in the swirling song.
Pressed in on all sides by intimacy
She doesn't understand it's lure
He's asking, though she cannot see
Stance confident , but eyes unsure
Feeling so vulnerable as they smother,
A wave of a fan; now he's there
Framed by women like any other
Singled out by his mismatched stare
He steps forward; question in her eyes
He hold answers within his charms
Swept into dance; swept into lies
She belongs only in his arms.
A world between them for just two
Every second lasting eternity
Only I appreciate you
Forget them and choose me.
Dancing her in his twisted ball
This Cinderella in moonlight gown
He offers himself, he offers it all
As the world is falling down
The masqueraders circle and see
Their eyes colder, stare and leer
Frightened, she turns about desperately
It's time for your choice, make it here.
Look of dizziness, smile of victory won
Everything inside her's falling apart
His eyes and arms call and beckon
Only he appreciates her innocent heart
But some understanding older than time
That cannot be forgotten; wiped away
Told her truth in a clock's tolling chime
Freed her from this role she'd been born to play
Pulling apart from what she wanted; she knew
Hands reaching, clasping, come back!
Now he's the one lost, not sure what to do
He offers everything; but in his love there is lack
Tossing a chair, she breaks free
Shattering this mirrored reality
Thrusting herself back to her world of uncertainty
But it exists, and exists truthfully
His eyes; melancholy and dim
For his loss had left him daunted
He'd offered to her; she'd rejected him
Isn't this what she wanted?
Both trapped within their roles
While the music plays to which they're drawn
In an eternal ballroom spin these two lost souls
Although they don't know it, the dance goes on.
