Each brass instrument has its own international society.
They aren't too expensive to join, and if you're serious about your instrument
being a member is a definite advantage. There are opportunities to
get free CDs, and each society has a yearly convention. Imagine everything
having to do with trombone, horn, trumpet or tuba in one place all at once!
You'll find links to all of them here, along with some other sites that
are definitely worth a good look.
The Online Trombone
Journal
This is a free resource made by and for trombonists.
They have resources, a library and you can even register to discuss trombone
topics with other players.
The Trombonist
Online
This is the homepage of the British Trombone Society.
It has lots of great links and info on what's happening in the trombone
world overseas. They also have a wonderful archival photograph section
with old pictures of the former trombone sections of some of the top British
Orchestras.
The International
Trombone Association
This is the homepage of the ITA. If you're a trombone
enthusiast and you're not a member....JOIN!!
It's everything trombone related that's happening in
the world today.
The Trumpet
Guild
This is just like the International Trombone Association,
except it's for trumpeters.
Tubist's Universal
Brotherhood Association (don't
you just love the acronym?)
Again, this homepage is the same
basic thing as the ITA and the ITG....except their acronym is much more
clever.
International
Horn Society
Need I repeat myself?
The Historic
Brass Society
If you're into music history, this site is certainly
worth a visit. It concerns itself with all early brass instruments,
such as sackbutts, cornettos and ophicleides. A wonderful resource
for anyone interested in where our modern brass instruments evolved from.
There are also more links on the subject on my
Early Brass Instruments
page.
