Hi, welcome to Yume
Japanese Chin. I have a very small breeding program averaging 1-2
litters per year usually producing a total of 2-8 pups a year (if that
many). I
show my dogs in conformation shows but they are pets first and
foremost, living in the house with me, not in a kennel, garage, or
basement. My
puppies are raised in my den from only a few weeks old. They are not
kept isolated in a room by themselves with little or no human
contact. They grow up seeing and hearing everyday sights and
sounds, like the
TV, telephone ringing, children talking, music, the smell of food
cooking, the other dogs in the family, etc. They are raised as family
members and are expected to go into their new homes and continue to be
treated
as such.
Since I don't breed very often
& when I do it is to get that new show puppy for myself, I don't
have puppies available very often. My pets are sold without papers and
are required to be spayed/neutered. A
pet puppy is simply a puppy that I have determined not to have enough
qualities to be shown or bred but is no less beautiful or special than
a show prospect. What makes the pup a pet may be something so minor
that most people would never even notice. It may be that the nose is
just
a tad too long or ear set is not just right, or tail set isn't high
enough
or maybe even the fact that the markings aren't just right. None of
these
things affect the dogs ability to be a wonderful pet.
I require 3 references, 2 can be from
family, friends or neighbors, but the 3rd has to be from your vet and
has to be on office letterhead. Any puppy determined to be pet
quality is required to be spayed/neutered and is sold without
registration papers. Because I never want any of my babies in a
shelter,
research lab, rescue or even abandoned to fend for itself, any dog
purchased
from me is required to be returned to me if
at any time in the dogs life you decide that you can no longer keep him
or her.
I also occasionally have older puppies or young adults looking for
cushy retirement homes. While I would love to keep each and every one
of my dogs
until
they die of old age,
I will not keep more dogs than I can spend time with every day. They
are used to being in a home with under 10 dogs. I always have several
laying on the couch with me when I'm watchng TV, some in my lap and
some just beside me. I usually have a Chin on my lap when I'm working
on the computer and several
more at my feet. They even sleep in the bed with me. This is the life
they
are used to and deserve for the rest of their lives. If I kept every
dog,
they would not get the attention that they deserve. I feel that if they
have given
me companionship over the years then I owe it to them to find them the
perfect
home so they can be spoiled rotten couch potatoes. So, once they are
finished showing or breeding my retired dogs are usually available to
family
homes where they will continue to recieve one on one attention instead
of
being one of many.
When I have puppies or older dogs available they will be listed on the
Available page.
I owe a ton of
graditude to Mary Bransford, Robyn Walker, Sandi & Tommi Hooban
& Gina Pierce for trusting me with the wonderful
dogs that have been a
part of my breeding program.
