UPN28/38’s Wrestler of the Week
(week ending 08/07/04)
Orlando Jordan
Accomplishment:
Orlando
Jordan retuned
to SmackDown! after a few months hiatus. The Miami
native upset a formidable opponent and frequent contender for the US Title Rene
Dupree. He also seemed to have aligned
himself with WWE Champion JBL, as at the conclusion of
SmackDown, Jordan
pulled JBL out of the ring as the Undertaker was about to inflict pain on the New
York City resident.
Does Jordan
have a death wish, or is this the beginning of great things for this former
amateur boxer-turned pro wrestler?

Tidbits:
Orlando
is the youngest of 11 children, who is more than willing to make a name for himself. This Miami
native is a 2 –time high school All-American and Florida
state wrestling champion. After high school he wrestled for Boisie State. From there Jordan
became member of the U.S. Forest
Service, and an accomplished amateur boxer. Jordan
trained under “Soul Man” Rocky Johnson, the Rock’s father, before entering Ohio
Valley Wrestling under a WWE developmental deal.
Orlando
made his WWE SmackDown! television debut in Madison
Square Garden
last year facing John Cena. Orlando
even impressed the Undertaker. As the
Dr. of Thuganomics attacked Jordan
after an impressive match, the Undertaker came down to the ring, shook Jordan’s
hand and congratulated him on a good match.
After this Jordan
seemed to only sporadically appear on WWE television. Orland Jordan
is now back for a second run, siding with JBL and
against his former mentor. This is a
sure-fire way to get noticed…
