The Young and
the Restless
Intro:
Youth ruled RAW this week as Randy Orton became the
youngest World Heavyweight Champion in the history of WWE, yet the remainder of
Evolution was none too pleased with that achievement. One Smackdown, there certainly were some
restless superstars, as pre- and post match attacks were a-plenty. SummerSlam is in the books, but its aftereffects will be
felt for months to come.
Raw Wrap-Up:
Randy Orton made history at SummerSlam by beating
Chris Benoit to become the youngest WWE World Champion in history. The next night he kicked off RAW
Although Kane won his match against Matt Hardy at
SummerSlam and thus the right to marry Lita, The Big
Red Machine failed in his attempt to attain the IC title Monday Night in his
match with Edge, due in part to interference from Lita
and Matt Hardy…Rhyno and Taijiri
earned the right to face La Resistance for the Tag Title at Unforgiven
as Rhyno pinned Sylvan Grenier
with the help of a little green mist from the Japanese Buzzsaw…Victoria
came out on top in a great match against Gail Kim…In other Diva action,
Michelle McCool was eliminated from the $250K Diva Search…After loosing to Edge
at SummerSlam in a triple threat match, Batista and Chris Jericho faced each
other one-on-one. In another solid
match, Batista lost by DQ when Ric Flair thwarted
Next
week, Kane and Lita tie the knot in the middle of the
ring. Happy ever after it may not be….
Smackdown! Wrap-Up:
Smackdown kicked off this week with an injured WWE
Champion JBL. After a long-winded promo,
the Undertaker walks to the ring stalking the Champ. JBL makes a quick retreat with Orlando Jordan
through the crown, only after sitting on a fan….Spike beat Scotty 2 Hotty to retain the cruiserweight title. Scotty was a victim of a post match attack by
the three
RVD defeated Rene Dupree in a very competitive match
after landing a five-star frog splash.
The post-match celebration bwas cut short by a
blind-sided attack by the Bronze Warrior Kenzo
Suzuki…In a non-title tag match, Chavo Guererro and Jamie Noble surprisingly upset the champs Paul
London and Billy Kidman. The upstart
team surly has earned the right at a WWE title shot with this victory.
After being defeated by Kurt Angle, Eddie Guererro came to the ring and challenged angle to a match
that very night. Angle refused, but was
persuaded to enter the ring and shake Eddie’s hand. This was a Guererro
set up as Eddie attacked Angle. Luther
Reigns ran to ringside to help Angle, but didn’t do much as Rey
Mysterio stormed the ring to even up the odds. In the main event Angle teamed with Reigns
against Eddie and Rey. Luther fell victim
to a frog slash after Angle had deserted him in the ring. Angle appeared to close out the show by
dumping two cans of paint on Eddie’s low-rider.
Eddie was distraught after getting his new paint job, maybe he should
keep it in the garage next time.
Next
week, Heidenreich makes his Smackdown debut and match
2 of the best-of-five series between Booker T and John Cena
for the
Odds and Ends:
WWE has bought out the remainder of Scott Steiner’s
contract which was set to expire in october….The Rock
is busy in Hollywood as he has signed on for yet a new movie, “Far Cry,” where
he’ll star as an ocean patrol officer who must fight mercenaries on a deserted
island….
