Movie Review: Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away) I give this movie: **** Four Stars! Hayao Miyazaki is truly a master of his craft. He is always creating new works of art that are surly masterpieces. This movie takes you on the adventure of Chihiro, a lazy little girl, in the setting of a bath house for gods. The amination and backgrounds are so detailed and beautiful! All of the characters, from the soot balls and Kamaji to even Yubaba and KaoNashi, are truly wonderful. I love everything about this movie and I am glad I bought it. I even loved the music, so I got the soundtrack too Now I did have a problem with the english version. The voice acting was pretty good but some of the lines were not. Such as the part in the movie when Chihiro says the line "Haku's a dragon?" at a time when NOTHING is said in Japanese. By that line being inserted it killed one of the mysteries of the movie. You're not supposed to know that Haku is a dragon at that point! Idiots at Disney! And the whole hanko thing. When the translators were doing their thing they saw that "hanko" translated in their little dictionaries to "seal". Now if they truly had been professionals they'd at least know that the Japanese use these "hanko" as a signature. It works along the same principle as wax and a seal from a long time ago did for us Americans. So, seeing that as a basic fact for anyone who is supposed to know about the language and care enough about the culture to actully know something about it, why then did they think that it actually meant "seal" as in the animal? Because they're freakin' morons! They saw the spell that Zeniba had put on the hanko and assumed that that was the "seal" their dictinaries refered to. Holy freakin' crap what idiots. Also the cutting out of Eigacho. It is something that the older generation of Japanese do and ther is just no American corilary so they chose something completely stupid instead of leaving it a lone. B@57@rd5!

Movie Review: Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (no I refuse to call it "the movie" because that title sucks, stick to the original titles!) I give this movie: **** Four stars! At a college convention a while ago I convinced one of the students there to play his burned copy for all of us anime fans, so he did. I was amazed (yea for big screens!) at the quality not only because it was a downloaded copy, but after I bought the movie it was clear and beautiful. Even people who are not fans of Bebop would love this move, just as my friend Travis did. The voice acting in English and Japanese are very top quality and I would recomend this to anyone.

Movie Review: The Last Samurai I give this movie: ***and 1/2 stars Why 3 and 1/2? Just for a minor thing they got wrong in the beginning. Plus I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan. The reason is the scene in which the old Samurai is beheaded in the beginning. The ones who do it cut his head completely off (while he is performing Harakiri). Now the actual head lopping off does not suprise me since that did happen, but Samurai were so well trained they would leave a little bit of skin on the neck so the head would not roll off and land in front of anyone (which would be very disgraceful and rude.) Yet I digress... The movie was well written and I'm suprised it did not get any (but one I think) Oscar nods... Tom did a great job, and for me to say that, it's a lot. (I really don't like him...) Ken Wantanabe is cute...:) He did wonderful. Well thats all. :)

Movie Review: Kill Bill vol. 1 I give this movie :feakin' **** stars! I never really enjoyed many of Tarintino's work (sorry if I spell that wrong) but this movie was one of the coolest I've seen in a long time. However, the first time I'd seen it in theaters there was only about 13 people in it including me, my brother and his friend Steve. We were the only three laughing through out the entire movie. When I looked around people had the most mortified looks on their faces (at US not the movie) and some IDIOT brought his kids with him! What MORON brings kids who looked like 6 and 8 to a QUINTIN TARINTINO movie! UGH! Hello! Natura Born Killers!!! But the seccond time I saw it the whole theatre was filled with a bunch of college kids so it was a wonderful time. I didn't feel bad for laughing. I truly think this is one of the best comedies (yes I said COMEDY! got a problem?) I have ever seen. Thank you Quintin!

Movie Review: Van Helsing I give this: *** stars I did actually like the movie and everything and the stunts were cool but the one problem I had, and it's what droped the movie to 3 instead of 4, was the acting of the female lead. She ticked me off quite a bit and I thought that just about anyone could do better. The acting of the Dracula's wives also lacked and hurt the movie. Other than that I thought it was good. I'll wait until it comes on HBO and tape it rather than buy the movie though.

Movie review: The Village I give this movie: **1/2 stars This time the acting was good and I like the concept but the ending su-uh-ks. M. Knight Shaymalan was good at having a suprise ending for the 6th Sense where it was harder to pick up on but it seemed like he wasn't really trying to hide the "twist" ending in this movie. I think he relied too much on the big names in the movie and the scary parts were few and far between. The characters also needed to be a little more developed. I guess it would have been better as a television seriese so that more could have been done with it. Perhapse it would have been good on HBO or something. Although I do believe there were no aspects of the movie that could not be shown on ABC or FOX.

Movie Review: Kill Bill Vol. 2 I give this movie: **** stars I had to wait for it to come out on DVD before I saw it but I think it was a nicely done movie in that it relyed more on the actual story rather than so-over-the-top-it's-funny bloodshed. Although it was bloody at like, maybe, two parts. I did, however, think that the fight scene between Daryl Hanna and Uma Thurman was anti-climatic. But over all I still liked the movie and the lovely posters to both grace the back of my closet and entrance (to my room) doors.

Movie Review: Hero I give this movie: **** Four Stars! In this beautifully done epic you'll find action, some humor and a lot of romance. But here's the great thing: The romance is not too sappy and the action only serves to enhance the plot instead of drown it out like other movies (like the Matrix Trilogy, boy have I got a bone to pick with those *bleepers*). I went to see it on it's opening night at 11:35 -p.m. I realy enjoyed my self through the whole movie. It is in Chinese so you'll have to do quite a bit of reading but believe me that is a small price to pay. One of my favorite scenes is the autumn yellow and red themed fight between the two female leads. It was really cool. I also enjoyed the noble manner in which the story was told. Every actor did a wonderful job and the fight scenes did kick @$$ so over all I was very pleased, although I think I've said that and am now repeating my self so I'll end this review with a nice little "GO SEE IT".

Movie Review: AVP I give this movie: I want my money back! Negative four stars! Oi what a crap fest! There are just soooo many things wrong with this movie. For one they were in the coldest freakin place you could be but none of them shivered and you couldn't see their breath. Another thing is the whole concept of the Predator and Alien war! Predators are hunters, yes, but they only look for specific things, thus why Arnold was not killed in the first one! His head was the wrong shape! (wrong type of skull). The Aliens were a little more on the mark. They act more like bugs in that thier sole reason for living is to further perpetuate thier race. So thier act of survival was correct. The only thing that made this movie quasi enjoyable was the fact that my friends and I are total smart @$$es and we were the only ones in the theatre so we could make fun of it the whole time. Well, all in all it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. They killed two good movie concepts all at once. Oh! And before I forget, making a movie about a brutal killer known for his ruthless unforgiving killing of those who get in his way (Predator guy) and some stupid glorified hiker who pair up together to kick the other guy's butt as a buddy flick is always, ALWAYS a horrible idea. (Wow, what a crappy sentence!) The end, thank God! :P

Movie Review: Inuyasha: Affections Touching Across Time I give this movie: **** Four Stars! First, I got a great deal when buying this movie so it was automatically more enjoyable considering I'm on a budget! ;P Now...This movie was just like an extended episode, which I happened to like! Most critics beat down stuff like that but hey, they can bite me if they don't like it! :D. Ok... This movie was a wonderful break from the crap that has been coming out in the anime industry (look for ranty explination in the future) and I truly enjoyed it. However there seemed to almost be a break in the story between the movie and the anime. I would've enjoyed a bit of a comparison first or at least something like it. Hyogi was considered to be a very powerful demon who was defeated by Inuyasha's dad, and Ryukottsei was so powerful he was only imprisoned by Inuyasha's father and the wounds inflicted on him (Inuyasha's dad) had ultimately killed him. So I guess I was a little taken aback because of the trouble that Inuyasha had to go thorugh with Menomaru (Hyogi's son who had inherited his father's and ansestor's powers) before he even changed. He even needed to use the power of Kagome's arrow in order to break through and make a hit with the Backlash Wave! While the deamon who killed his father was much easier to defeat in comparison which brings about the tad bit of inconsistency. Bad spelling aside, I guess for me it would've been better had the plots been switched so that Ryukottsei was the movie and Menomaru was about 3 episodes. It could've been done like that! :) But all in all I still greatly enjoyed the movie and I'm not sure if I've expressed my point clearly enough to not be heckled. It makes sense if you think about it. I do recomend this movie for any Inuyasha fans and I did like the long but infomative special footage contained on the DVD extras. Cool beans all together.

Movie Review: Resident Evil 2 I give this movie: ** 1/2 stars Well, what can I say? This movie only has a few good quality parts and proves once again that if you don't know what the hell you're doing, don't turn a video game into a movie. The plot is similar in some spots, but overall it was like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, or Final Fantasy 8 (I hate that game) in that it had a plot all of it's own. Personally I feel that doing that is insulting to us gamers who've faithfully played the game and thought "Man, this would make a kick @55 movie..." Most filmmakers now days, with the exception of a few, don't know how to make a good movie anymore. I thought it was rather dissapointing and there was one HUGE plot blooper I found. If anyone has played the game they'd know that the whole cemetary thing was just absurd and worthless. (speaking of which, the motorcycle through the church window? Come on! How useless was that. And the running down the side of the building thing.) The virus had no way of being introduced to the corpses and would not have affected them in the first place seeing as the tissue the it takes hold of has to be living and then die as a result of the virus first. Oi, I don't want my money back, but I would like to slap the movie makers. On a side note the outfit they had Jill in was nicely done. It was just like the extra outfit you unlock in the game. I don't believe they got her personality 100% correct though...

Movie Review: Saw I give this movie: ** 1/2 stars I thought it was kinda crapy. As with Resident Evil 2, there were only a few scenes that were actually any good. I was dissappointed again. If you pay attention to the body in the middle of the room, the plot twist is so obvious. No blood splatter, too much blood, the trajectory of the bullet and the way the gun lay in his hand (and the way he fell). Also, if that one guy (I'll omit his specifics because I realize that people still want to see this movie and I don't want to ruin it for anyone) who was poisoned had a connection and was freely moving about. So, me being a creature of logic and common sense, couldn't figure out why he did not go to the hospital for the cure. He had plenty of access and all. Not to mention the poison was probably obtained from the hospital in the first place. There, in all the glory of modern medicine, exists a simple little thing called a blood test...If he had one done he could find out what he'd been poisoned with and he could've gotten the antidote and have been cured without having to go along. I just thought the movie bordered on r-7@rd3d. (Speak 1337! At least I'm trying because it's fun.) Oh well, I'm done for now.
