Book reviews: Genpei, by Kara Dalkey

I give this book: **** Four stars!

This is a wonderful book that is about the battle of Dan-no-ura. It outlines the Taira and the Minomoto clans and their struggles for power. This book has Japanese gods and goddeses everywhere. Nii no Ama (Tokiko) is even one of the dragon god's daughters. I love the way this was written and Kara Dalkey did a great job on the historical aspects of the novel. I HIGHLY recomend this book to anyone who loves to learn about Japan.I would've had it done sooner if it hadn't been for my novels class requirements of 25 pages of
1984 a night.

Memoirs of a Geisha, By Arthur Golden

I give this book: **** Four stars!

This book starts off a little slow, but then again few books don't. This is a very detailed story about a Geisha named Sayuri and how she became such a successful entertainer. Sure, some may say "So what?" but this book is so well written ithat it was on the New York Times Bestseller list for over a year and was even givent he title of #1 International Bestseller. I found this book very interesting and loved the story.
