Learn Japanese: Lesson 2
Basic Sentences
Using the information from lesson one I have put together a
number of sentences so you can get the jist of it.
I will give the sentence in Japanese and then the definition. In parentheses is the literal translation.
- Kore
wa hon desu. This is a book (This book is)
- Kore
wa akai hon desu. This is a red book (This red book is)
- Sore
wa kuroi hon desu ka? Is that a black book? (That black book is?)
- Iie, ki-iro
hon desu. No, it’s a yellow book.
(No, yellow book is)
- Kore
wa nan desu ka? What is this?
(This what is?)
- Isu
desu. It’s a chair. (chair is)
- Are wa
nan desu ka? What is that over there? (that over there what is?)
- Tsukue
desu. It’s a desk. (Desk is)
- Sou
ne? Really?
- Hai,
sou desu. Yes, it is.
- Sugoi!
