Japanese design in gardens and homes makes use of an amply amount of green. In fact, the colors that you mosly find around a Japanese style home are green. Green, brown, grey(rocks), are the dominate colors.

Green is a well known color used to create a calming invironment. In the television industry, there are of course "green rooms" which are waiting rooms for nervous guests who hopefully can are helped by the soothing green walls and accessories of the room.

In Japanese design, green is most commonly in the landscaping, and the gardens. Not much color is used, but this is not a absolute.

Grey, is almost always used in garden stones, rocks, gravel, sand etc. These are working with the green and brown of trees, plants, grasses, and mosses in the Japanese garden design.

The architecture of the homes almost always uses the natural look of wood, and other earthtones as the main themes, and materials. This creates a very calm and thoughtful atmosphere in which to live. The noise of modern life can be countered with this type of design.
