The January 2001 Playgroup Who's Who
"AKA" The January Jewels
Hi - If you have clicked here then you are interested in the January 2001 Playgroup Who's who. Other than a few changes the information from the Expecting Club is still pretty acurate. There are a few "sister" sites attached to the main page that different members have put together. To learn how to be added to our Playgroup Who's Who read on!
Who are we? - The January 2001 Playgroup Club is a spin-off of the January 2001 Expecting Club we are a group of ladies that hangs out at Parents Place. We all had our babies in January 2001 or close to it. The Who's Who is a separate site from Parents Place. Most of the boards find some members willing to spend some time creating a place for other members to find information about other people that post on the boards. This Whos Who site is maintained by Tookies (Christy) , I am a long-time member. I am not a employee of Parents Place nor do I have any access to information that Parents Place got from you when you registered with them. Therefore, when you signed up with them we have no idea. Now, this is not a bad thing for you because this is the Internet afterall and Parents Place does offer you privacy and doesn't pass out information. The Who's Who board is purely VOLUNTARY. This means if you are a private kind of person you don't have to join. This also means if you want to join you have to let us know.
To be added to our Member Listings page you can go to that page or Click Hereto go directly to the form.
To join other pages or activites there is a page with all the diffrent activites and pages listed you can find it here.
If you have any other questions plese feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
Other Basic Board Info
The use of the Bulletin Board is quite simple but there are a few rules that apply to the content of your post. First, the January 2001 Playgroup board has one important goal: to offer support to other women that go through the same experiences as you do. Support is our number one priority and should always be our first considerartion for posting to someone. If you can not post a supportive comment please do not post at all.
We are a very diverse group of women, many nationalities, many beliefs, many races, backgrounds and opnions. We can't expect all of us to agree on everything and we don't need to! We should enjoy our diversity but keep in mind that there are people with different opinions when you post and try not to insult anyone.
Archiving:
The board archives when there are 60 or more posts at a certain time. Then they will be queued and archived around 2-3am Eastern Time Zone. You can read the archived messages by clicking on "Archive List for this board" or by changing the board number in the address bar. If you need to ask a question again because the board just archived please do so and refer to your original post by posting its url or repost it.
Abbreviations:
We use many abbreviations on the board in order to save keystrokes. I'm sure you will become very familiar with most of them. However, if you get stuck on some of them check out our website; go to the Abrreviations page
How to post a message to the board:
*TIP ~ To read a post right click on the header and select "open in new window". This will keep the original window open so you won't have to re-load the board after reading each post. Go directly to the bottom of the board page and click on the grey "Add Message" button. If you have chosen not to have your password and username saved on your computer, you will be prompted for this information.
The next page you see is a form. Enter the title of your message. This is what will be shown as a link to your post on the message board.
Next enter your message. The message area formats using SmartText, so you can just type in your message without worrying about entering HTML tags, you only need to return twice to create paragraphs. Do note that indenting sentences will create text that does not wrap, and will cause readers to have to scroll to read your post. Anything beginning with http:// will be made into a clickable link, as will email addresses.
You may wish to enter some relevant terms in the keywords section (This makes your post "searchable" to search engines).
You may also choose from several icons that will appear with your post title on the main board page. Once you are finished editing your message, click the "Preview Message" button. It will then show you how your message will appear to other readers. You have the option at this time to edit your post by using your browser's "Back" button or by pressing alt + the left arrow key on your keyboard. Edit your message and then preview again. When you are ready to post your message, press the "Post Your Message" button. This will load the board page and you will see your message added at the end. If you don't see your message at the end, don't post it again or you will have posted two messages. Instead you need to "Reload" the page with your browser to see it.
To respond to an existing post you would follow the same procedure, only clicking into the message you wish to respond to first, and then clicking on the "Add Message" button at the bottom of that page.
Once a message has been posted it can no longer be edited, but it can be removed at your request. If you should ever want a post removed, write to [email protected] and be sure to include either the url of the post or the title of the board, the post's number and title and it will be removed for you.
