| Ned Christie son of Watt and Lydia Christie who "Walked the Trail". Grandson of Lacy Christie. Ne de Wa de was born in the Going Snake District. The Christies were part of the Keetoowa Society and stongly advocated Cherokee National Independence. Ned was a extremely handsome man. He stood six feet, four inches. It is said that he had an almost supernatural ability to sense danger. Which may have come from his mother who was a medicine woman and member of the Bird Clan. This information if from "For Honor and Country", written by Roy Hamilton. Ned Christie had four wifes . This is Nancy Greece Christie, his wife at the time of his death. This photo is of Annie Christie, daughter of Ned and Jenny Scraper(3rd wife).. There are no known photos of Ned's son Jim. Jim was murdered at the age of 18 with no descendants. His mother was Ned's 2nd wife Peggy Tucker. Ned and 1st wife Nannie Dick had a daughter named Mary. In 1885 Ned was a member of the senate from the Going Snake District. He was also a master gunsmith and a expert marksman. |
