What is JANPC?

JANyeko Publishing Centre Ltd, based in Uganda and its subsidiary JAN Publishing Centre (PTY) Ltd in Swaziland, was established by a group of experienced publishers, educationists and media professionals to cater for African academics, institutions, and NGOs. It was realised that while it is essential for academics in institutions of higher learning to publish books and articles to be promoted, the avenue for publishing is very limited. Most publishers are hesitant to publish manuscripts by African scholars because the market for their work is limited and therefore uneconomical. Commercial publishers would rather publish textbooks for primary and secondary schools. As a result a lot of original and useful studies by African scholars remain unpublished.

It is also a well known fact that many research institutes, universities and NGOs in Africa have very valuable documents which are never published because the organisations lack the skills and capacity to do so. As a result, documents get shelved and are not as well disseminated as they would have been if they were well published.

JANPC has the capacity and the skills to provide publishing services to organisations and individuals.

:: Generous royalty
The usual royalty rate offered by most publishers is 10-12%. JANPC offers 50% after production, postal and handling costs have been deducted. In other words we share the work and the result equally.

:: Marketing and distribution
JANPC markets its publication actively through professional mailing lists and the internet and has teamed up with the African Books Collective, based in Oxford, UK, for world-wide distribution. We also have contacts with academic and library booksellers in South Africa and Uganda. Our authors are kept abreast of every marketing strategy and move we make.
