JanOnJosh: Beyond Leo du Pres

JanOnJosh Archives

Hello & welcome to the month of June, fellow JD fans! Hard to believe the year is half over, you know? Even at that, its been an exciting one and how exciting was it to watch the Daytime Emmy Awards on the 18th! Im sure you guys were anxiously sitting in front of the tube that night and expecting to have to wait quite a while before the winner was announced I know I thought for sure wed have to wait until close to the end of the show to find out. But BAM, there it was right there at the beginning. While all of us here are obviously partial to Josh, none of us could hold back our excitement for the very deserving Michael E. Knight, who was announced as the winner of the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Our hats are off to Michael, and all other Daytime Emmy winners. Congrats! Speaking of awards shows, it is my understanding that the SOD awards show will not be aired as it has been in years past. Instead, the winners will be announced in the July 3rd issue of Soap Opera Digest magazine, which will be on sale June 26th and at the Soap Opera Digest Website on June 25th. Josh was a nominee in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category. These are awards voted on by the fans so I hope you all cast your votes for your favorites! The online voting period officially ended on May 17th.

JanOnJosh: A Feature Article
In the last edition of JanOnJosh, I asked the following question: if Josh had the opportunity to star as the lead in a re-make of a famous movie, which role would YOU pick for him and why? We all know Josh is going to be an even bigger star one day. The responses that were sent in were quite interesting as you will see in just a bit. But first, how is everyone enjoying the latest storyline with Leo on AMC? I didnt think Id care for it at first, but Im hooked on it now! I just wonder what is going to happen in the weeks to come will Laura live and Leo be forced to pretend to love her? Or will he actually fall in love with her? Please email me with your thoughts! And now, here's YOUR .02:

DixieCup: While I am not a fan of remakes, I tried to come up with a few roles that I would love to see Josh attempt to put his spin on. I adore Gregory Peck and think JD could easily be Joe Bradley in Roman Holiday. If I had to pick something more contemporary, I can picture Josh in the role of Oliver (Ryan O'Neal) in Love Story. Or how about Josh as Rhett Butler with Rebecca Budig as Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind? Couldnt you just see the two of them? It would not be a stretch for him from Leo, as Rhett was a "player" also. And Rebecca and those eyes would do Scarlett PURRfect! But it would certainly be funny!

conVINCEDinNC: I think that the Indiana Jones idea is great ... especially that first Raiders of the Lost Ark. I could also see him in Tim Robbin's role in Bull Durham love that movie! And of course, there could be a re-make of the wonderful classic Lambada LOL....I 'm sorry, I couldn't resist! I truly can't see Josh doing that one ;-) I know that one day he WILL definitely be in the movies!!

Nancy K.: Since I like when Josh does comedy, I could see him playing any role that Jimmy Stewart played in the old days....on the opposite, I'd like to see him play devious roles, like Jeremy Irons seems to play...mind is a blank when it comes to actual film titles ... Shakespeare in Love, perhaps ...he'd look spectacular in tights!!

Suzette: How about the Richard Gere part in American Gigolo (oh- that's LEO-oo) LOL!

Jadyland: I would LOVE to see Josh play James Dean's role in Rebel Without a Cause. I think he would be fabulous for the part.

RaisinKane: I would love to see Josh do an Errol Flynn/Indiana Jones/Three Musketeers-type character -- he is larger than life already and I believe he has the stamina to do adventure/action/swashbuckling-type movies ... with a bit of romance thrown in of course!

Lisa B.: Josh Duhamel should play Joe Black (portrayed by Brad Pitt) from Meet Joe Black because he's funny, cute and a great actor. Adorable also and he has that look that would attract a audience. And that goofiness.

Merrisilv: I'd like to see Josh in An Officer and a Gentleman. I think he can play the cold guy and then the deep sensitive guy. All women would melt! Any role where the guy gets all sensitive would be good for him. I dont want him to leave All My Children -he's the best thing to come along in years! How about the movie Moonstruck with Cher and Nicholas Cage - very Italian role - but he could do it.

Janny's .02: After thinking long and hard about this question myself, I came up with a few roles that I felt hed be good in. How about Tom Cruises role in Jerry McGuire? Couldnt you just seem him utter the words You complete me to his co-star?! Actually I can see him in a few other Tom Cruise roles, like the character he played in A Few Good Men. On the classic side, I could see Josh playing Tony Curtis role in a remake of the 1959 classic Some Like It Hot a movie where the MALE gets seduced! That would definitely be a switch from Leo du Pres hehehe! Perhaps the character David Larabee (played by William Holden) from 1954s Sabrina. Or maybe a classic western movie where wed get to hear Josh with a southern accent?

Thank you all for your responses. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the next JanOnJosh feature article. As always, your thoughts are welcomed and encouraged. Email me and tell me whats on your mind!

Bye for now!
Janny
