| My previous journeys always had a clear destiny, now the time was ripe for me to just wonder around. I had 4 weeks available, and I was going north, these were the only set points. This time I choose to travel a less direct route up north; instead of the E-6 I took smaller roads, more close to the coast of Norway, the 'Old Coastal Road (Kystriksveien). It turned out to be an interesting route with a lot of ferries, alternating between lovely green farmlands and wild coastal area�s. But after travelling both roads I have to say, the E-6 is not just the fast way north, it is also just as beautiful as the Old Coastal Road. |

| This time I took time to visit the Lofoten and Vesteralen, a group of islands on the Norwegian coast, just above the polar circle. On previous journeys I had seen this �Wall of Mountains� in the distance, and I already planned on visiting one day. And this time the day came. In a way, the Lofoten and Vesteralen are a scale-model of Norway. High mountains and deep valleys in the south, lower but wilder and emptier in the north. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| In order to have at least some goal on my travels, I had arranged to meet a friend somewhere in Norway. We planned several possible meeting places, on the Lofoten and way up north, near Vads�. Our first attempt to meet went ape; though we both made a round on the same island on the same day, we managed to miss each other entirely. A good week later, on a peninsula in the north, things worked out better and we met. All of a sudden we both were a little bit at home while still a long way from home. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
