Explanation to my education:
The first two schools listed are middle and higher basic education, followed by most Dutch children.
Nederlandse Stichting Foto Vakschool.
This was a training to become a licensed and professional photographer. It covered most fields within the profession, like portrait, commercial photography, reportage and all needed technical faculties. At the time I was also still following lessons HAVO and I was working as photographer for insurance purposes, real-estate agents and the city archives Roermond.
Katholieke Lerarenopleiding Sittard.
This was an academic training to become a teacher in arts and crafts, resulting in a BA. During this etraining I teached at several Dutch school types (LTS, IHNO, LHNO, MAVO, HAVO en VWO). I also did several short projects like a video production with pupils from a School in Meerssen. Furthermore I organised and prepared excursions for fellow students to Germany and Belgium. Within the regular training I gained knowledge on commercial and 'free' art forms. I worked at the School magazine, I designed and build furniture, made bronze and plaster statues, painted, made etchings and performed audio-visual presentations on behalf of the institute. I have written 3 theses to complete this training: A art-history thesis on Man Ray as founder of modern day free photography, a sociological thesis on sado-masochism and an educational thesis on audio-visual training.
Centrum vakopleiding:
This was a year and a half training for financial administration. Main target was bookkeeping and administration. There were for example modules for word-processing, spreadsheets and databases, calculation and correspondence. There was a skill-slab training with a collective of virtual corporations doing business with each other. In the virtual firm I was part of, I worked at the goods administration, the salary administration, and I ended my training as president of the firm.
WORKEXPERIENCE
My jobs range wide; before finishing my education for example I worked as photographer for the city archives in Roermond, as driver in military service and in several short employment's at DSM Geleen. My main occupation before accepting a steady job has been teaching photography at several hobby centres and schools. After graduating I worked shortly as a substitute-teacher at a school in Roermond and tried my hands on being an artist. I finally took a steady job at the Hoge School Zuyd in 1992 (this is an academy for social studies). The first 9 years I worked as a planner, making schedules for the use of teachers and class-rooms. I've designed a protocol for channelling information on the curriculum, introduced the use of external supervisors during tests and introduced and implemented a computer based planning-program.
PRESENT OCCUPATION:
Since august 2000 I moved to tutoring students in social law.
OTHER EXPERIENCE:
For a period of 5 years I've been working as an artist. Shortly after graduating I became involved in the formation of an art-centre in Sittard, providing workspace for artists and organising exhibitions. As an artist I have presented my work at over 30 exhibitions in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
