| Tazumi was a rat rescued from the SPCA. His former owner brought him in apparently because he was getting too old. :( Despite his abandonment, Tazumi was an extremely trusting and affectionate rat from the beginning; the kind of rat that surely would have won over any determined "rat-haters" out there, if he had only met them. As a matter of fact, during his short time at the SPCA, Tazumi won his fair share of admirers - a big feat for such a small rat. :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Despite his slight frame, and partially paralyzed back legs, Tazumi had an inquisitive and enthusiastic personality. He didn't let his legs stop him from running to greet us or to climb wherever he could when he was out of his cage. He also had a voracious appetite and loved to share our "human" food whenever he had a chance. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is Tazumi, the day he arrived home with us from the SPCA. From the moment we first picked him up, he was a licky and lovable little boy. He truly was a little rat too - due to old age, and any number of other factors, he only weighed a slight 11.5 ounces. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Unfortunately, Tazumi suffered a seizure or stroke of some type which rendered him completely paralyzed. On October 22nd, less than a month after we brought him home, we had to make the very difficult decision to have Tazumi put to sleep. :( While it is hard to let a pet go, it would have been cruel to allow him to suffer needlessly. Tazumi leaves behind cage mate Jim, another SPCA rescue rat. Tazumi truly was an ambassador; his wonderful personality exemplifying how great rats are as pets. He also went to show that even the nicest animals sometimes end up in shelters, through no fault of their own. Rest in peace Tazumi. You'll always be remembered in our hearts. |
