Herpetologist Ron Cromer presented his educational science program to a captive group of students and parents on May 18, 2004. His program was designed to give clear concise insight into the lives, habits, and characteristics of snakes. Ron's program featured an orientation slide program and a hands on session. Topics included dispelling the myths about snakes, the proper way to hold a snake, the anatomy of a snake and a strong warning about handling snakes found in the wild.
The hands on part of the program provided opportunities to handle more than two dozen specially trained snakes. The grand finale included special viewing and handling of a giant python. A "snake free" zone was provided for those who did not feel comfortable handling the snakes.
As you look at the picture below, you can see the wonder, amazement and respect our students had for the snakes. |
