Janis Miller Hall is a multi-media artist from Kanata, Ontario.
Janis Considers life drawing to be the best way for an artist to develop the drawing and "seeing" skills needed for all forms of visual art including abstract.
Since coming to Ottawa in the early 1990's Janis feels very lucky to have been able to participate in the many life drawing workshops available locally. She has also taught drawing and painting offered through the City of Ottawa, Wallack's in Bell's Corners as well as various art groups in the area.
She is a founding member and past Chairperson of the board of management of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery as well as a past president of the Kanata Art Club.
Her work can be seen regularly at the Kanata Civic Art Gallery and by appointment at her Studio in Stafford Studios, in the Creative Arts Centre on Stafford Road, Bell's Corners.
Her paintings of children at play have been used in publications such as community telephone books and city activity guides. Originals hang in public collections such as the City of Ottawa and Kanata's Seniors Center, as well as in private collections throughout Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and the Caribbean.
While much of her work is done out of pure personal interest, she frequently accepts commisions for portraits in various sizes and media.
Her next group exhibition will be as a member of the Kanata Artists Studio Tour, during the first weekend of May. I hope to see you there.
