About Miss Priss

miss priss came home today
sashaying down the block
chandelier earrings cast
a glow on gaunt cheeks

tried to make the big time
climbed over the crowd
dreamt a throng of admirers
instead she fucked a million toads
and herself in the end
her momma was calling --

i need you right now
the money you send
is never enough
i need you right here
bobby's been sick again
no money can cure that

she thought, she inclined --

this misery can't get worse
sold my body, my soul
and still got no fame
just a lousy contract
and a name
her body sagging
hair dyed and unshined
you can see soulless eyes
under that smiling mask

she's gone home to her momma
and her bobby boy
they say they need her
but she needs them
a hell lot more
