Anime Reviews
By Ciercies
Welcome to my part of the site!  Don't worry about falling asleep in the     middle of my reviews, I have a fairly short attention span so they're          pretty exciting (unlike a certian someone's reviews whom I share this       site with....) *cough* ^.^ Ahyhoo if you're a lazy bum feel free to look      at the summary of my summary at the bottom of each review! Cya!

                           The SLAYERS Series
The Slayers is one of my personal favorite animes.  It is a comedic, mid-evil series.  There are three sagas that I know of to date to date: Slayers, Slayers Next, and Slayers Try.
(So theyre not too original with the names.)  This is yet another magic based anime without all the serious boring dialogue (exception of Amelia, see below) it also lacks a serious plot and a good guy.  ^.^
There are 5 basic main characters.  First is Leena our not so righteous protagonist. She throws reckless yet extremely powerful spells and is a little too quick to put her fist where your mouth is.  Leenas sorcery skill can be matched only by her appetite.   Her magic specialty is black spells (a.k.a.: make other guy go boom spells!)
Next is Gourry, pronounced (gall ree).  He is a sword swinging champion who couldnt think his way out of a paper bag.  Gourry has no magical powers but wields a legendary weapon.  Because he has no knowledge of magic, (among everything else *cough*) he has no magic specialty.  He relies completely on his swordsmanship skills.
Third is Zelgodess, (not sure I spelled that right) he is my personal favorite character because although he knows magic hed much rather fight honorably with a sword.  He is also not the most heroic character but among the others, is the most mature.  Plagued by a curse given to him by his own master he is 1/3 golem to give him a good physical prowess, 1/3 demon to juice up his magic, and 1/3 human to keep his sanity and his humanoid form.  Zel is a pretty balanced character but his specialty is using astral attacks.
Amelia is actually a princess of a kingdom known as Sayroon.  She got mixed up with Leena in her travels and mistook her for some hero.  (She was really just killing the bandits to steal their money for herself)  Little Miss Amelia idolizes Leena for some time in the first series but that soon wears off.  Believing in the power of justice she smashes enemies with her so called justice attacks.  Amelia is just as about the most opposite from Leena as you can get shes a self-righteous type but shares Leenas bluntness.  Her specialty is white magic (Not just healing!).
Last but definitely not least is Xellos the mysterious priest.  Well, I cant really tell you much about Xellos without spoiling the whole story for you.  I can tell you this though, hes not really a priest, which kind of baffles me about his name*shrugs*.  Anyways, he is very powerful and can perform amazing feats as if it were childs play.  Xellos doesnt fight enough for me to see a real specialty but it is interesting that he can teleport even though thats something only monsters can do so far
Wow that was a long rant*pants*for those lazy bums out there (like mee!) Heres the short version:

Title: Slayers
Sequel(s):
Slayers Next, Tri, and others even I havent seen
Setting:
Mid-evil (my fav ^.^)
Type:
Comedy / Fighting (unnecessary violence)
Main Character:
Leena Inverse
How I liked it:
One of my favs soooo funny (P.S. The first series starts out kinda cheesy, stick with it
Basic Summary:
If youre looking for one of those heart-warming animes, look elsewhere.  It isnt bloody but I wouldnt exactly show it to little kids (some inappropriate humor).  Overall, very funny anime.  Youll laughyoull crybut only because youre laughing so hard.
Overall Grade: A
