Serena stood happily with her husband as she
watched all of her Scouts repeat their vows to their
respective Generals.
The couple stood in front of their thrones and
when a tear trickled down Serena's face, Darien squeezed
her hand, which was joined with his on her stomach.
He
bent his head down towards hers, concern on his face.
"Are you alright, love?"
"It's the baby that's making me like this, don't
worry about me," she replied and as if on cue, she felt a
little kick.
Another tear trailed down her cheek as she
looked up to him. "Did you feel that? The kick?" she
whispered.
"I did love, I did," he answered smiling and
giving her a sweet kiss.
She looked back at the wedding taking place
and gasped. Each General had bent down on one knee
and was now offering his sword to his Scout, head bent.
It was a lovely picture, one that Serena would always
remember.
"It's tradition, you know," Darien whispered.
"It's beautiful."
"You are beautiful," he whispered hoarsely.
After the Queen had sealed the couples'
vows, each General stood up, smiling widely, their
happiness reflected on the Scout's faces.
"That was absolutely wonderful," Serena said,
walking down the steps.
"If you ask me, it was a bit too emotional for
her," Darien said, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah Serena, I never knew you to be the type
to cry at weddings," Amy teased.
"I don't! It's just that...it's just that you all are
my best friends, and, and I love you all so much, and..." she
broke off as tears fell from her eyes.
"Alright Sweetheart, you are going to bed.
You've had enough excitement for one day,"
"I haven't," she sniffed, "This is all your fault! If
you weren't so insistent that we-"
Darien blanched and quickly covered his wife's
mouth with his hand as everyone looked on with great interest.
"Love, if you'd like, I'll even carry you to our
bedroom if you would just get some rest."
"I don't need anyone to carry me! I can walk just
fine by myself. I am no weakling," with that she walked away,
her head held high, still sniffling.
Darien hung his head in exasperation. He looked
up when a hand was placed on his shoulder.
"Only a couple of more weeks, son, then it'll be
all over," King Terrence said, sympathetically.
"I know, I know."
"Oh Zoicite, I wouldn't mind having a baby," Amy
said sweetly.
The General's eyes nearly crossed and he looked
ready to faint.
"Oh Amy, you have to wriggle your eyelashes like
this," Lita said and then did so at Nephrite, "Nephrite, dearest,
I would love to be the mother of your child."
"Lita, you can't be so blunt, you have to have more
sophistication and grace, like this," Mina interjected and
looked towards Kunzite who was backing away nervously.
Darien just grinned and shook his head. "I think
I'm going to go after Serena. I'll see you all later."
Meanwhile Serena had almost reached the royal
chambers when she realized she had forgotten to tell her
mother something. As she turned around, however, a voice
stopped her in her tracks.
"So, you carry Endy's brat. Are you sure it's not
one of the General's?"
She slowly turned around, and faced none other
than the Lady Carissa.
"Carissa, shouldn't you be on the run?
After all you are wanted for treason, and I hear that that
crime is punishable by death."
"They'll never catch me! But I see that nothing
good came out of my plans. So I thought, why not just finish
the job, by finishing you off and your brat."
"You touch me and you die. I swear I will cut you
down with my sword before you could utter another word."
"Hah! You don't even have a sword!"
"Oh, but I do," it was Darien and at his voice
Serena felt relief rush through her veins.
"Serena, love, don't
make promises you can't keep."
"Oh, I intend to keep this one. That woman has
caused enough problems in our lives. It is time that she be
gotten rid of. Besides, I need some sword practice."
"You can't do that! Endy should have been
mine!"
"I belong to no one, Carissa," Darien said calmly
and bent to place a kiss on his wife's shoulders, "However
my heart belongs to my wife, my love."
"You make me sick!"
"And I have had enough of this. Darien, give me
your sword please."
"Sweetheart, do remember your condition."
"Darien..." Serena warned.
He sighed and then drew out his sword and
handed it to his wife.
Meanwhile, Carissa watched all of this in horror a
nd when the Princess took a step towards her she turned and
ran. However, she could take no more than a couple of steps
before she was blocked by guards.
"Lock her up and guard her well until the day of
her trial," Darien said.
The two guards led Carissa away and when they
were out of sight, Serena broke down and began to cry.
"Serena! What's wrong? Just a few minutes ago
you were all mean and testy and now you're crying!"
"Oh Darien, it's your voice, when you came up
behind me and spoke up I wanted to cry right there. It's just
so warm and loving and safe and..."
Darien sighed once more and here we would
see something similar to an anime sweat drop form on his
head.
He scooped her up in his arms and carried her to
their bedroom. "Love, I'll always be there for you, don't
forget it," he said as he lay her down.
"I love you too, Darien. Will you stay with me?"
"Of course," and he settled down next to her
and held her in his arms, rubbing her stomach.
"Thank you Darien," she whispered and leaned up
to kiss him.
He returned her kiss fully and they both sighed
happily, a Prince and his Princess rejoicing in their love...due
to a betrothal that never was.
