Starsky & Hutch

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Hutch stared at the lights in the Christmas tree.  A tree he and Starsky had picked up that afternoon, and had decorated together, while listening to old Christmas records.

After all these years Hutch had finally given up fighting Starsky when it came to celebrating Christmas. It was much easier to stop protesting and give in to the joy and pleasure of the season. Or better said: give in to the joy and pleasure of his partner. At first Hutch really didn't understand why Starsky was so adamant when it came to them celebrating Christmas, but seeing his best friend in such a good mood, so full of life, with eyes sparkling, who was Hutch to ruin it for him? To be honest he couldn't. Over the years Christmas had become very special for Hutch too. It was the time of year where he could surprise Starsky with a present and show him how much he meant to him.  It was the time of year where their friends and their families came together to share in the true Christmas spirit, the Christmas spirit that was returned to Hutch by Starsky.  Hutch knew he could never pay Starsky back for what he did, but he also knew Starsky didn't want him to. All Starsky wanted was to see him happy and Hutch just couldn't refuse him anything.

He looked up at the angel at the top of the tree and smiled. He had never believed that angels or miracles existed before, but Starsky had taught him different. An angel had brought Starsky to him, and a miracle had kept them together. When he thought about it, Hutch knew there had been more than one miracle during their careers. There had been so many times when death threatened to separate them, and leave one of them alone. But love had prevailed and here they were, celebrating another Christmas together.

So Hutch waited for his friend to come home. When he heard Starsky coming up the stairs, singing yet another Christmas carol, he put on the ridiculous Santa hat that he’d refused to wear before and sang along.

Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:

Santa Claus is coming to town!

He's making a list,
He's checking it twice,
He's gonna find out
who's naughty or nice.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

He sees you when you're sleeping,
He knows when you're awake.
He knows when you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake!

So...You better watch out,
You better not cry
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Little tin horns,
Little toy drums.
Rudy-toot-toot
and rummy tum tums.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Little toy dolls
that cuddle and coo,
Elephants, boats
and Kiddie cars too.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

The kids in Girl and Boy Land
will have a jubilee.
They're gonna build a toyland town
all around the Christmas tree.

Oh....You better watch out,
You better not cry.
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why.

Santa Claus is comin'
Santa Claus is comin'
Santa Claus is comin'
To town.
