Don't Fear, Starsky's Here
(The Fix aftermath – Starsky's POV)
Hutch is hurting. Again. And there isn't a damn thing I can do about it!
So I take a deep breath and try to relax. For Hutch.
He needs me.
He had another nightmare. His hair is plastered to his forehead. His
eyes are looking at me, bewildered, confused, and scared. This has been going
on for two weeks now, and I'm wondering how long these nightmares are going to
last? How long will
Hutch's trembling. So I do what I've done every night. I crawl in bed
with him and hold him until the trembling stops and he relaxes in my arms.
Holding him like this brings back memories for me. Memories of another time I held him in my arms, tremors
wracking his bruised body. His eyes stare into mine; longing for that one thing
that he knew could make him feel better. He’s begging me to help him, and help
him I did. It wasn't the kind of help Hutch wanted,
but it was the only kind of help I was willing to give. For me there were no
other options.
Hutch has fallen asleep again, but I keep my arms around him. With Hutch
safely protected in my arms I can make sure demons like
Don't fear, Starsky's here.
