That Day
Written for the rescue workers
They worked to find survivors In the wreckage of that day But few were found,we know that now There's nothing left to say... They work now to find the bodies Of the souls we lost that day But few are found,it's a vicious game We weren't prepared to play... Though we've tried to lift the spirits Of the workers since that day It can't be done, the war's won Their anguish we'll convey... God , give them strength and courage For the job they do each day It's never-ending, unrewarding And the sorrow's here to stay... They came to help, they ran to save As did their brothers on that day They lost their lives with countless others Beneath the rubble where they lay... They labor on, they will not stop They could not know that day That life would change for all of us In such an awful way... The reward they sought, just finding life Was stripped from them that day But it will be returned to them When the evil ones are made to pay...
