THE WESTPORT MARITIME MUSEUM
Westport's rich history began in May 1792 with the arrival of Captain Robert Gray aboard the Columbia. The harbor was named after Capt. Gray and by 1850's was a busy logging and fishing community. The U.S.Coast Guard commissioned the lighthouse station in 1939, housing 20 men and their commanding officers. By 1973 the old station became inadequate and was abandoned. In 1985 the building was turned over to the Westport-South Beach Historical Society and the museum opened its doors.************************As time goes by I will be adding some of the other places we have traveled to.
