| Out of the Closet: Janice "I'm happy" (part 2) |
| Posted 08:21pm (Mla time) Jan 30, 2005 By Marinel Cruz Inquirer News Service SKIRT. "I bought my favorite skirt from a side street in Bangkok. EYEWEAR. "I bring my clear glasses everywhere I go. I use them for reading because I'm near-sighted. "I had the racks for my eyeglasses specially made. Whenever I go to the Replay store, which provides most of my glasses, I always see the racks. If your glasses are placed on racks, more or less you know if something's missing. There's a system to it. "I especially like one by Replay because of the dark tint. I like styles that are not too feminine; I prefer rectangular frames. And then there are glasses you wear for show, like this rounded purple pair." PANTS. "I'm not very feminine when it comes to clothes. I'd rather wear slacks and jeans than dresses. SHOES. "These two pairs of slip-ons are memorable. One time, while I was in Greenbelt, napigtal yung suot ko (the one I was wearing snapped). I wasn't shopping that day, but I had to buy another pair. I like them both because they're very versatile. "I also own several pairs of boots, two of which I had specially made. They were copied from something I saw in a magazine. I wear them with dresses. "This pair of leather boots is from Gelli. I used to borrow this for 'Sis' until one time, a friend told me that Mango just released a new pair that looked really okay. I asked my friend to buy it for me. When I saw it, ang tulis pala (it was too pointed)! I traded it for Gelli's boots. Most of my sandals are from Wade. If I have time to choose from what Wade has, I don't pick stilettos. I prefer wedges because they're not too feminine and they don't hurt my legs. I have stilettos only because I need them. "The rubber shoes I'm wearing are my daughter's. We have the same shoe size. Swerte ko (I'm so lucky)! I get to borrow from them." BAGS. "I prefer bags that are functional, like this black leather number from Mango. It has plenty of pockets. I just bought it last December. "This pink bag is a gift from my lovey. He bought this in the US last January. It looks good with jeans. "I also like wallets with many pockets. I want to be able to bring all my credit cards, ATM cards and discount cards wherever I go. I've been using my Nine West wallet since June." ACCESSORIES. "I make my own. I wear them not because I want to, but because I need them for work. "I also do cross-stitch. I give them to friends as gifts. Pinaghirapan talaga (Labor of love)." New love "Love just happens," declares Janice of her new love whom she found more than two years after her 10-year marriage to actor John Estrada ended. "You can never tell your heart to be ready. I didn't look for love. Nabigla nga ako (I was taken by surprise). Now I realize that a relationship will work only if the person you're with is someone you've prayed for," she tells Inquirer Entertainment. But Janice says she would rather keep the special someone's identity to herself, because, "after all, he's not from show biz." "I'm happy," she says, as though she can't stress it enough. "Each person has his own benchmark for happiness. For me, happiness is being at peace with myself. Happiness is from within, you exude it, and you can't buy it or fake it. You can't get it from other people. I may not be the richest person, I may not own everything that I want to have, but I'm happy." When not busy with "Sis," the talk show she co-hosts with younger sister Gelli and Carmina Villaroel on GMA 7, Janice usually stays home. |
