| Competition and forgiveness are good. |
| Will GMA 7's "Sis" open its week this Monday with their host Janice de Belen in a no-holds-barred interview with estranged husband John Estrada and his alleged girlfriend Vanessa del Bianco? After "Sis" airing last Monday by its other host, Gelli de Belen, in an interview with songbird Regine Velasquez, who once became the Source of the formers heartache with then beauty (but now husband) Ariel Rivera, people could not stop anticipating that such an episode would happen again but this time with her older sister Janice. "I don't have any problem with that," said Janice smiling when the idea was brought to her attention by the press during a recently "Sis" press lunch at the Gloria Mari's in Timog, Quezon City. "I don't see anything wrong in forgiving a person whether on television or not. Forgiving in general is good. So I'm open to that idea. I'm fine." What concerned Janice though with the idea were the other parties involved especially since her situation, compared to her sister Gelli, involves legal matters. "It's okay for me because there's already forgiveness. And this makes me happy. When you say forgiveness that means you have to surrender yourself completely. And I don't think I can be happy when I still have grudges with other people but I think the chances of them appearing in my show would be slim," she expressed. Janice also took the occasion to clear stories about her planned resignation from the network once her ex-husband was hired by GMA7. "I once told televiewers in my other show 'S-Files,' that I have no business telling anybody from getting work. Why should I do such a thing? What if the time comes that I suddenly needed work and some people would do the same to me? It is not my call. I'm also just an employee and I'm working. I have five kids to feed and kailangan ko pa pera niya." The Janice/John/Vanessa episode of "Sis" may not materialize in the near future or never at all, but what is important to Janice is for her and Gelli to always keep their focus on their show especially that ABS-CBN recently started its newest morning show hosted by Tessie Tomas that airs before its reformatted late-morning show "Morning Girls." I'd like to think that professional competition is good because you are on your toes. It's hard when you become lax. But if there is competition whether stiff or not you are on your toes. And it is good as long as it doesn't become personal," quipped Janice. As much as possible, Janice doesn't want to think about how they are doing in their ratings or that "Sis" has become the show to beat in their time slots. She likes to keep things in proper perspective so as not to lose hold of reality that she, her sister, the production crew need to work hard all the time to make the next show better from the last one aired. "Sometimes you're up, you're down. The drive there is to make your show always better than your show today. We work hard but not to the point that we kill ourselves," she jested. Looking back when "Sis" was still crawling to make good ratings (insiders from "Sis" said that in a survey that included neighboring provinces of Metro Manila, "Sis" has always been on top since January of this year), Janice stressed that a big factor to the show's success is working with her sister Gelli. "I think the main thing that's making 'Sis' really work is that they don't have to build chemistry between me and Gelli. It is not a very difficult chemistry experiment because we are sisters and we don't have any rivalry. Hindi kami nagpapasiklaban, hindi nagpapagandahan hindi nagaagawan ng eksena." Janice de Belen in a future episode of "Sis" would want to have Senator Ping Lacson as one of her guests. Knowing about how much problems has riddled the Senator- and how serious politicians could be, it has interested her to find out whether there are still trivial things in his life - like does he still smile or watch a movie, etc. She also would like to find out and a lengthier interview with Vic Sotto whom she finds very mysterious. "If there's something that I like about my job is how it is related to the Psychology course I'm taking up right now in Ateneo de Manila," she related. "I want to bring out the human side of every person. Every person have feelings but are often just fronts. You just don't see their vulnerabilities. We all have these defenses we put up especially kami na artista and ang mga politiko, we all have our defenses immediately. The minute pumasok ka sa studio, your defenses are up. So it is finding your way around those defense and how to break them down that challenges me as a host." So what would she do when John and Vanessa would appear in "Sis?" Would she still give them a cake? "Why not? But I would tell them this time, 'Walang poison yan,'" she smiled warmly |
