| Wednesday, April 17, 2002 Section: Entertainment By Mario Bautista JANICE DE BELEN has decided to go back to school this coming June. �I finished high school but I never got to college. I was so tense when I took the entrance exams at the Ateneo. I told myself if I wouldn�t pass, then I won�t go on with it anymore. But I did. So now, at 33 and after 17 years of absence from school, I�m a college freshman taking up AB Psychology. I�m doing it not only for myself but also to show my kids the importance of having a good education. I don�t think it�s ever too late to do that.� Some changes are happening in her TV shows. �Sis� is now taped on a GMA studio with a live audience while she has a new co-host for �The S- Files,� Richard Gomez no less. �I really welcome Goma because we�ve been friends since our days with Regal Films, where we did movies like `Super Islaw,� `When I Fall in Love,� `Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,� `Isang Araw Walang Diyos,� `Once Upon a Time� and `Nasaan Ka, Inay?� I�m sure his presence will make the show more appealing to the viewers. And I know Richard can be a good host. He�s outspoken and aggressive. Timing nga that he came just when Paolo Bediones has to leave the show for seven weeks to host a new game show for a while.� How did she feel when she learned about Rico Yan�s untimely demise? Wasn�t there a time it was rumored she caused his breakup with Claudine Barretto? �I was shocked and saddened because we really became close while we were doing �Saan Ka Man Naroroon.� We played husband and wife there. But both Claudine and Rico are good friends of mine, so we just ignored the rumors. After the show ended, I never got to see them again. But I sympathize with Claudine and what she�s going through right now.� She has already filed an annulment case against John. �It�s something I had to do for closure. I told him that since we�ve parted ways, ayusin na lang namin nang matino. But we�re civil with each other. We�re neither friends nor enemies. He can visit the children anytime. He�s close to my eldest son, Luigi, who looked up to him before as a father figure. I told Luigi not to let what happened between John and I to affect their own relationship.� Is she looking forward to a new relationship? �I�m not ready yet. Right now, I�m enjoying my personal space so much, not having to make an accounting of what I do with my time to anybody. Whenever I have spare time, I�d rather spend it with my children.�Luigi is graduating from high school come June. Inah is in grade five, Moira is in grade four, Kyla is in prep school while the youngest, Yuan, is only three years old. It�s not easy to be a working mother but with the Lord�s help, I always try to do my very best.� |
