| Donny and Marie Osmond hosted a musical variety show for six years during their teens in the 70's. And quite recently, Dick Clark produced a talk show for them that lasted for a year, simply titled "Donny and Marie" (The show was cancelled early this year.) Lea and Gerard Salonga used to co-host a musical show with Ariel Ureta when they were kids. Now, for the first time on the local daytime talk scene, GMA-7 teams up the De Belen sisters in one show: the introspective Janice (who recently rediscovered her talent in hosting via "S-Files") and the frank and spunky Gelli, who's known as an actress more than anything else. The show is aptly called "Sis," for obvious reasons. "Sis" intends to highlight the positive side of personalities and celebrities in show business, politics and other fields. It will be shot on location with a real house (located somewhere in Quezon City) serving as a permanent venue for interviews, while occasional video shoot will be done invarious places such as restaurants, bookstores, park, etc. For instance, Janice has taped aa career interview at National Bookstore as a fitting location for asking a celebrity what sort of books she reads. How did they receive the good news? Janice laughs, " Gelli knew it before I did. Whe she arrived at my house, she asked me, "Alam mo na ba?' Sagot ko, 'Ang ano? "Sabi niya, "May show tayo! 'Hindi ako makapaniwala, so sabi ko, "Talaga?" Then Gelli exclaimed 'Talaga! Tingnan mo, tatawagan ka nila mamaya.' And they did. So hindi pala tsismis." The claim they never discussed how they would treat the show or the responsibilities they would share. "It was handed down to us. They explained the concept, they described what the show is supposed to be visually. And then 'yun na yun. Wala na kaming masyadong discussion pa na eto sa 'yo to, eto sa akin to," Gelli Stresses. Janice observes, "I guess, the nice thing about us is, pwede mo na kaming isalang kaagad dahil nagkakaintindihan na nga kami. Actually pare lang kaming nagsa-shopping. We know each other very well so the reaction is automatic. "We're actually more concerned about our clothes or shoes on the show. Mas 'yun pa 'yung napag-uusapan namin. So far, we haven't had problems in the actual interviews because we jibe. The questions she asks are far from what I want to ask. So, so far, wala pa kaming problema. Doe Janice give Gelli pointers in hosting? " Wala, kasi mas madaldal yan sa kin e," beams Janice Gelli smiles, "No, si Janice kasi, right away na-analyze na niya yung sinabi at pwede na niyang i-wrap up at ikwento sa yo. Tapos magbibigay pa siya ng mga quotes. Quotation queen, di ba? Kaya nga ako tatanga na lang sa kanya. The chemistry in undoubtedly there. Growing up together has obviously established great rapport between them. During the show's press conference, Janice and Gelli gamely addressed even the most controversial issues, particularly Janice's recent estrangement from her husband of 10 years, John Estrada. |
