This 'N That
Just a place where I can say whats on my mind on a variety of topics.
Entry for May 18, 2008
Greetings,

Well, the website is starting to look a little more complete. Of course, I do have some more to add on other topics besides all my pay to click sites. Yes, I do belong to all those sites but it doesn't take much time to do all those sites during the day.

Anyway, I want to discuss another topic. A topic which consumes most of my thoughts and I deal with everyday! WEIGHT LOSS ! It is foremost in my mind because my excess weight nearly killed me. In my study and research, I have made some observations regarding the American diet and how to lose weight.

These are just my observations and conclusions and in no way should be taken as medical or scientific fact. I am not a doctor and I do not play a doctor on TV. I am just someone trying to get my health back, trying to stay healthy and trying to learn and understand weight gain and weight loss...

1. Salt- I think salt is a key or a trigger to weight gain. The American diet is loaded with salt. Does salt somehow cause the body to not to respond to insulin? (meaning does it make the cells insulin resistant) I was a very skinny child and I ate a normal southern diet (southerners fry everything and eat it. hehehe) Anyway when I was around 5 years old I began eating salt. The doctor said my body must be craving it so he told my Mom to let me eat it. I remember I would tilt my head back and pour salt into my mouth straight from the shaker. By the time I was eight yrs old my weight began to creep up. I know salt can cause water retention but does it also affect weight gain. I mean FAT not water weight gain.

2. Sugar. Americans are beginning to wake up and see the unhealthy aspects of sugar. It is negative nutrient. Sugar gives us no nutrients and we must use our bodys' nutrients to process the sugar. That is negative nutrient. I think sugar is addictive, unhealthy and dangerous. Again looking at the american diet, it is high in salt and sugar. Can these two combined be the cause of our obesity epidemic? I think Salt and Sugar make a unhealthy and even deadly combination.

When I went to Morocco I was amazed at their native daily diet, they did not eat low fat! It was full of vegetables and fruits and meats. Green tea with mint added was consumed constantly and they had wonderful spices. It was all so good. However, America is robbing them of their healthy diet and they are beginning to see weight gain, increased diabetes and other illnesses we have here. It is so sad to see American food companies spreading their processed foods and the american eating habits which is bringing obesity and other illnesses to other countries all for the sake of the almighty dollar.

3. FAT. We have been programmed and brainwashed into believing ALL fats are evil. Some fats are healthy and some fats are needed to give us or help us absorb certain vitamins such as vitamin E. Fat reduces the appetite and helps us feel full. Fat also has NO AFFECT on bloodsugar. In fact, I honestly believe fat keeps blood sugar steady or stable. America is very low fat but we are the fattest country in the world. Explain that one. Fat is not negative nutrient.

4. Processed or pre-packaged foods. For the most part we Americans live on prepackaged and overly processed foods. We bleach our food, salt and sugar our food heavily and basically process out all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals out of our foods. Its sad really we have forgotten how to eat real food and I believe this American diet is killing us. Again processed food is negative nutrient.

5. We are negative nutrient country. We eat garbage, we eat junk. When I had a dog I wouldn't feed her people food because I had been told human food causes cancer in dogs. I knew it was not good for her. When she went to live with my ex fiance and his wife, they fed her people food. She died last year from a large plate -sized cancerous tumor. Wow, if i wouldn't feed our dog people food then why am I eating it and giving it to my family? Don't we deserve better?

Note: I used to feed my cat bits of people food so she would let me pet her. She developed diabetes and had to be put to sleep. Was it my fault? Did she get diabetes and suffer because I fed her people food?

6. Sodas. If I could I would ban almost all sodas except maybe homemade or real root beer, ginger ale and 7up/sprite type of soda since these sodas can ease a sick or uneasy tummy. I believe sodas are evil, regular sodas and especially diet sodas. Take away sodas and I believe America would drop thousands of pounds, the rate of diabetes, osteoporosis and ADHD or hyperactivity would plunge. Yes, Americans would gain a lot of their health back. Sodas is the #1 source of negative nutrient action. Sodas leach calcium from the body or our bones. So taking that calcium tablet with a can of soda is the absolutely worst thing you can do. I firmly believe soda also leaches other vitamins and nutrients from the body so you use up some of your bodys supply of nutrients just to digest the soda. Soda does not replace the nutients it uses. Negative nutients!

*Sugar also has negative nutrient actions. Its like taking coins out of a piggy bank and never putting coins back in the piggy bank. Soon the bank will be empty and of no use at all. 10 years ago I warned someone that drank a 2 litre bottle of soda A DAY that he was harming his bones. Last year he was ice skating and he fell and shattered yes shattered the bone in his arm. He is not even in his 40's yet. If he doesn't make some changes soon he is going to have ostoporosis, probably loose some height and end up nearly crippled when the next broken bone is his hip or worse.

7. The microwave. Another negative nutrient source. Microwaves also should be banned. Cooking and reheating foods in a microwave kills any meager nutrients that is left in our processed food.

We eat and drink the most negative nutrient foods in the world which lessens the benefits of all those vitamins we gulp down. Also, the body NEEDS real foods with real vitamins and real minerals and real nutrients. Pills can not replace real foods with all of its nutrients and micro-nutrients.

Well, I think that's it for now. Don't worry, I have more opinions and thoughts to share and I probably will share them in the future. Again, these are just my opinions and observations. You can take it or leave. Good night.
