More people walked for one thing, walked to work, walked their dog, walked to the grocery, walked the children to school.
There were parks everywhere, dog parks too,, it was nice reminded me of the old days in American when we had jungle gyms and stuff before the Age of the Lawsuit and whatever happens to you or yours has a price.
the British like their pets! lol my mom said that to me and no kidding! and everywhere were the doggie do do bins Pic!
Their dwelling walls were 18 inches thick, and most folks had upgraded their windows to vinyl, but the well maintained wooden windows were beautiful, if they weren't as energy efficient.
The television in Scotland beat ours to shreds. For one thing, they did not have the deluge of commercials that we have, and we have commercials!! So we saw more of the program and didn't lose so much to editing. Also, they said the f word right on television, but rarely did I hear "bloody". The news was more straightforward, and I feel sorry because it was during my stay there, Tony Blair had to agree to his step-down date, all because All the President's Men decided what they thought was good for the Americans (certain Americans) and Britian better believe the weapons of mass destruction exist, the heroin traffic is 100% Taliban, and Hail to Geo. Bush!
More TV. The game shows were on all the time, even at night! No one screamed when they won. There was no "Wheel of Fortune" and it was a blessing. And they were fun game shows, like test your IQ, or this crazy word game where you choose a certain amount of random constants and vowels and then in 30 secs you tried to make the longest word you could out of your options. It was cool, my Dad would have liked it. And Whats her name, Ann You are the Weakest Link was on every day, and she has as much charm as Judge Judy.
All Royal Posts (Mail) were identifiable by their signature red boxes. And really, these red phone booths were a functioning bit of nostilagia..
They used smaller refridges, and went shopping more often. Their food was very fresh and there was great choices in fresh produce and baked goods. And please do not forget the Scotch! the Scotch should have its own page, and bring gifts for the PeatBog gods.... The Recipe?
They had more efficient method of heating water. It was all dependant on a timer.
The Money! It should have its own page too! Do you have the correct change, Sir?
The women all had lots of kids, pushing around multibaby strollers. The kids weren't always too well-behaved. But the one kid that ran up and down in the train and finally fell and banged his head and cried and cried, well everyone was very concerned for him. When he felt better, he proved it by running up and down the train car again.
