Sloop "L I B E R T A D"
One day, my lucky day, I read an ad in the local newspaper, saying "Sailboat for sale in San Carlos - Mexico". The owners, a husband and wife team, had lived happily on this boat for five years in Marina del Rey (Los Angeles) until the husband had the great idea to sail down to Mexico. After arrival in San Carlos, his wife gathered what she could carry and took the bus back to Los Angeles and filed for divorce. Their misfortune, my good luck !

Because many of you readers are probably wondering, why a woman in her right mind could file for divorce after having such a nice cruise
, some explanation is warranted. You think you know somebody well. You go on a vacation together and soon you will have a different opinion of that somebody. Being together on a small boat for an extended period will magnify any fault of your partner. After a short time, you are sure your partner is the most rude, cruel person you ever met. Of course you are still the same smooth, pleasantly, easy going personality. Add some spice to this environment in the form of bad weather for days on end; lack of sleep; being wet for days; feeling cold and miserably and a wind which doesn't want to quit. Then, while fighting the elements and trying to keep a headway using the engine, then and just then, the engine decides now it is a good time to quit. This of course, is all the fault of your partner and you let your partner know it. You wonder, how did I ever get roped into this scary mess. You yell on top of your voice over the howling of the wind "I take the first bus home". And so you do.
It all added up to "Boat for Sale".
The boat, an O'Day sloop 28 foot long with a 10ft beam, is real comfortable.
I changed her name to "Libertad".
