| Every year my guild has a "quilt-in" day to prepare donation or "care" quilts for charities such as shelters and Ronald McDonald House. We get fabric from a variety of sources, including quilt and craft stores. One donated this fabric with framed squares showing various tropical flowers, including bird-of-paradise. We weren't sure what to do with it until a guild member suggested Bethany Reynolds' Stack-n-Whack technique. | |
| After "whacking" the triangles used to make the hexagonal blocks, I had great fun arranging them. The mottled medium blue makes star points, and the navy blue has tiny white stars, suggesting the name for the quilt. | |
