Feathered heart, "love" calligraphy in center, and grapevine designs are from Elly Sienkiewicz's Baltimore album applique books. I wanted to make my parents something special for their 50th wedding anniversary, and didn't have the time to finish a bed-size quilt, so I added borders to the reverse-appliquéd feathered heart block I had already finished. Blue borders and all grapevine fabrics are Hoffman Bali batiks. Center quilting is 1/2" crosshatching; outer border has "echo" quilting. Earned a red (2nd place) ribbon at NYQuilts! 2000 in Troy, NY.
