Heart Stars Quilt

In 1994, I won the raffle for the February Block-of-the-Month (heart star) at my guild's meeting. I had pieced together four of the blocks with sashing and borders, thinking of giving it as a wedding quilt, but changed my mind; it was layered and quilted but never bound/finished. Nothing much happened with rest of the blocks I won (I didn't have a destination in mind, so the pressure wasn't there to finish a quilt with them). A few years ago we had an Unfinished Project (UFO) exchange and another woman in my guild (thank you, Emma!) sashed the blocks together. Finally, with Hurricane Katrina and all the requests for quilts, I decided to finish this project (finally!) by adding the borders. All I needed was a little push. Completed Sept. 2005. Thank you to the members of East Side Quilters (in 1994) for making the blocks. This quilt found a new home with Pat P.

This small quilt was assembled & quilted in 1995 but never bound until the UFO exchange. It was donated to our "care quilt" collection, and can be used as a wall decoration or lap quilt. (33-1/2" square) The block in the lower right is the one I made for the block raffle.
Heart Stars
Using the remaining blocks Emma pieced this unfinished top (to which I added the outer border strips), which was layered, tied, and bound at a guild work meeting and donated to our "care quilt" collection (quilts made and distributed to needy organizations and causes). (72" x 44")
