My "One-Fabric" Watercolor Quilts

Size 24-1/2" square - Using one floral fabric, and a little bit of a background fabric, I made a "watercolor" style wreath wall hanging. This method allows you to create an impressionist-style picture using only one or two fabrics, rather than having to spend time (and money!) accumulating large quantities of various florals. My thanks to Sue Bailey for writing about this method in the Spring 2003 American Quilter magazine (published by the American Quilters Society).

The top photo shows the wall hanging; the bottom photo shows the source fabric that I cut into 2" squares and sorted and arranged, based on the "density" of pattern in each square.
