Premature Babies
We all know how important it is to hold our babies close right from the start. A lot of planning goes into those first few hours and weeks as we arrange to avoid the interruptions that would unnecessarily deprive our babies of those precious moments of 'bonding' time.

When a baby arrives into the world before he/she is due, the best laid plans are obliterated.
Your baby's first contact with human touch often brings needles, tubes, probes, and bright lights etc.

To help your baby adjust to their new surroundings and enjoy the feeling of 'Gentle touch' -
you can use special 'still touch/ containment holds' on your baby to promote the bonding between you both.

Gentle handling has been proven to improve stability of the nervous system and resistance to disease.

Dr Tiffany Field from the Touch Research Institute in Miami - says that loving touch triggers psychological changes that helps infants grow and develop, stimulating nerves in the brain that faciliate food absorbtion and lowering stress hormone levels resulting in improved immune system functioning.

You may be shown these by one of the nurses on the scuba ward, alternatively I can also show you either in the hospital unit or in your own home. (I show you the holds on my doll, and you follow either on your baby or on another doll).

As your baby is young and small - stimulation given to your baby is kept to small amounts and often only one stimulation type at any one time, such as - eye contact, talking, containment holds, as your baby may get distressed if offered too many at any one time.

If you choose to learn about these techniques from me, I will also teach you how to look for and act on your baby's individual cue's as to when is a appropriate time to use these 'special holds' on your baby and when to stop.

You will receive step by step guidance, along with review and literature files on everything I teach you.

An individual session lasts approximately 30mins. Fee from 10 (depending on location).
