Our story begins like most in the begining, but with a lot of holes and gaps. Two women and their memories, 
and the mountains.                 

  Steward Pangle was born to Lucy Pangle and Zack W. Roberts in Cocke County Del Rio Tenn, working 
on the farm. In March of 1934 Steward married Ethel Viola Franks in Spartanburg S.C., daughter of John Franks 
and Samatha Sawyer. 


  Our Uncle John Pangle Oct. 25, 1937, Mom Barbara Jean Pangle Adams May 1, 1939, our Aunt Antha 
Ruth Pangle Willey Dec.14,1940, were born to Steward and Ethel Pangle in Bluff N.C. in a cabin not far from
Ebbs/Plemmons store.

  When we started this research we were able to trace the Pangles back through time. Finding out oral 
history through the memories of mom, Aunt Ruth, and a cousin Blanche Fowler of Hot Springs N.C, census records,
and alot of internet searches. 

  The things we have found and made us go HUMMM: Some of the puzzle. 
Steward and Ethel had another child, at birth he was named Micheal Eugene, born at Spartanburg 
General Hospital in 1941 or 1942, mom and Aunt Ruth called him Gene. He was given up when he was
two years old for adoption. More of the story to come......, 

  Lucy Pangle and Zack Roberts had 6 children together, but at the same time was married to another 
woman, they all lived on the farm together, more of this story to come......, 
We have traced the Pangles back to 1900, our 3x and 4x grandmother. 4x grandmother Catherine Pangle, 
she had a son Henry Pangle. Henry married a Nancy Fleming, daughter of Will Fleming and Polly Smart. 
Henry and Nancy died in 1907, according to the family bible on Bull Mountain Cocke County Tnn. They 
had 6 children. We haven't found any record for them from 1900 on back, more of this story to come......, 

  There are two cousins missing, Theron Pangle, and Patty Baldwin, more to come.....,
